"Prince Graylon Will? Is that you?" I turned around to see a young woman looking at me sensually.

I go out of the castle once by myself and this is what happens? I get hit on by young ladies that are pub whores and looking for a good time with The Prince  just to claim bragging rights. I literally just went out to get some chocolates since we don't have any at the castle. Shocker I know.

"Yes miss, what do you need?" I asked as politely as possible.

"I heard you were looking for a young lady, to marry?" She asked, batting her eyelashes and twirling her golden hair.

"Y-yes, I suppose so."

She laughed lightly, "when will you choose a fine lady?"

"At the ball in a week, that's when I'm supposed to choose someone."

"How interesting. Are there invitations for this ball?" She asked moving closer to me.

"N-no, it's an invitation to all," I said moving away from her, "if you excuse me, I really must be going."

I turned on my heels in the direction toward the castle. I'll just send someone else out to get me chocolate. I don't want to deal with any other women. Now don't get me wrong, I love women. They're amazing, but I can't really be attracted to them. It's impossible for me to do so, and I have no clue why.

However, regardless of my feelings, I'm supposed to marry one and have children so I can keep the kingdom running. That's what mother says at least.

I walk through the garden behind the castle to get back where I came from. There's my little secret door that goes from the kitchen to the basement and out into the garden. It's very  discrete so I can leave the castle without anyone knowing.

When I get up to the kitchen my mother is there, not looking very pleased.

"Hello Mother, what...what are you doing?" I ask nervously.

"Where have you been Graylon? Your father and I have been worried sick. Then Chef Bailey came to me and told me that she saw you sneaking through the kitchen." Wow, even the servants have eyes on me.

I looked at my hands trying to come up with a lie. "I wanted to go out and get some fresh air in the garden. And I wanted to be alone."

My mother sighed and stepped closer to me and grabbed my hands, "I know you want to be alone, but honey I can't risk you getting hurt. You need to have someone with you, preferably a body guard. Please, just respect this one rule."

"Okay, I guess. Next time I'll bring someone with me." I agree, to make her happy.

She smiles happily and pulls me out of the kitchen. We climb the long staircase, and through hallways, to get to my room. When we get into my room my butler/best friend, Victor, is already there picking out a new outfit for me to wear that's more fancy for probably another dinner party that we're having tonight.

"Hello your majesty." Victor says nicely. In front of my mother he has to pretend like we aren't best friends, since my mom doesn't necessarily approve.

"Hello," I say simply then turn to my mother, "do you mind if I change alone?"

"Of course, just be down to the dining hall by 5:30, alright? That's when our guests are arriving."

"Who exactly is coming again?" I ask curiously.

"Graylon I told you. The king and queen of Aramoor and their daughter. She is coming to the ball but they came a week early to meet us. Probably hoping you choose their daughter so we can become allies and they can have a stronger battle force. I loathe when people do that, but we must be kind." She rants to me before leaving.

I sigh and turn towards Victor who has a smirk on his face.

"What?" I ask annoyed when we stare at each other for too long.

"Oh nothing. I just heard that you snuck out today." He says slyly.

I sigh and run my hands through my hair. "Yes and my mom already gave me shit for it."

"Oh I didn't want to chastise you again, I just wanted to know where you went." He said simply.

"To the store to get chocolate then I got scared by a lady and came back." I told him truthfully. Victor doesn't tell anyone my secrets, he already knows how I feel about women and that's the biggest one I have.

"Oh. Well I can get you chocolate later to make up for it. After the princess leaves with her horrendous family." He stops for a second to consider his words, "I can't believe a lady scared you."

We both laugh at this.

Victor finished picking out my clothes while I sit on my bed in thought. I used to envy Victor so much. I would tell myself, 'he gets to have this free life and I have to be a king one day, chained down by rules and guards who are appointed to watch me.'

However when Victor told me how he got here, I instantly took it back. We were walking though the garden one day about three years ago when he told me about how his father abandoned him when he was ten. He said my father found him in the streets and took him back to the castle and appointed him to the Chef who said he could help in the kitchen.

Victor is my age, so when I figured out that another ten year old worked in the castle I would sneak off to play warriors with him. It was so much fun until I turned thirteen and my parents found out. They said I couldn't have friendships with servants, since they were different from us. I thought that was silly though, since they are still people too. They made Victor my personal butler and we have been secret friends ever since.

"GRAYLON!" Victor shouted waking me from my thoughts.

"Sorry, what?"

"Put this on." He said handing me a fancy suit that's navy blue with brass buttons.

After I put on the fancy clothes Victor inspected me to make sure I had everything on correctly. "Looks good," he said quietly looking into my eyes, "you look handsome."

A small blush crept onto my cheeks and I muttered a small thanks.

"You should probably go down to the main hall, they'll be here any minute." Victor said breaking the silence.

"Okay. I'll see you later, alright?"

"Alright."

I stared at him for a few seconds before opening my large door and going downstairs and taking my place at the table next to my mother.

A/N- I realized while writing this the time and location isn't very prevalent. Buuutt this is my made up world, which obviously has aspects of the real world like the concept of time. But the countries that these people live in are completely fictional, like Aramoor. That isn't a real place. Anyways just thought I'd clarify, happy reading :)
