Later that day, Belles father, Maurice finished his latest invention and was going to bring it to the fair. Maurice asked Belle to accompany him to the fair to be his assistant. Belle accepted her fathers request. While traveling through the woods, Belle and Maurice met Gaston. They greeted each other. Then Gaston said "Maurice, its a coincidence to meet you and your daughter here in the woods because I wanted to ask you something. I wanted to ask for your blessing to marry Belle." Maurice said no. Then he walked over to Belle and asked her to marry him. Belle also said no. Then, Gaston got angry. He took out his sword and threatened Maurice with it. Belle tried to stop Gaston, but she couldn't, she was defenseless. Gaston asked Maurice again if he could marry Belle and once again, Maurice said no. Right in front of Belle, Gaston killed Maurice. Belle started to cry, so she got on her horse and rode away. Gaston got on his horse and rode after her. Sooner or later it started to rain. Belle stopped in front of two paths, she didn't know which one to take, so she turned right. Gaston arrived at the two paths, he didn't know which path Belle took, so he turned left. Meanwhile, Belle lost Gaston and she stopped right in front of the Beasts castle. She got off of the horse and sat by the door and cried into grief.
