"Bev, please help me out with this."
Richie Tozier stares up at his best friends dodging eyes, kicking a piece of trash off the side of the path they were walking on.
    "Rich... I really don't know-"
Beverly Marsh scoots her gaze up to the tall, curly-haired beauty beside her. "In all honesty, this whole thing seems like a lost cause to me. This kids' been missing for three weeks already. And I hate to say it, but he's probably dead."

Silence cast between the two friends as they walk around the park, ignoring the occasional playful screams coming from kids at the jungle-gym and the elderly's judgmental looks.
"Bev please-" He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the crumpled piece of paper he found on the side of a diner wall. It read:

"- don't talk like that. You know my family needs the money, dads working pretty much 24/7 just to pay our rent and my mom's medical bills." Richie pleads. And in-fact Bev does know this, she's well aware of the Tozier living situation, it's actually not much worse than her own, and that's just one thing the two can connect with.
"Yeah but... there are other ways to make money. I'm not trying downgrade your idea it's just... this plan is absurd. There is no way you can find some kid that went missing over 20 days ago." She blows a curly lock of red hair out of her face.
"Bev. I know you need the money too. We can split it, so after I take care of my family we can finally leave this shitty town together, once and for all."
The girl with fiery hair slows her walk to a stop, sighing and rubbing her freckled face. Richie stops too, walking over and taking her small soft hands in his abnormally large ones. Pleading brown meets icy blue, their eyes lock and Beverly sighs again.

      "...fine. Let's do it."
"Wait? Really?! Your gonna help me? Holy mother of dick! Imagine the places we could go with $8,000! Bev, thank you! I promise this won't be a waste of time, after we're done with this whole thing we can finally leave this  shithole excuse of a town." The lanky teen engulfs his shorter friend in a bear hug, then claps his hands together in excitement as they part.
The redhead rolls her eyes but can't quite hide the smile appearing on her pale face. "Yeah yeah, don't cream your pants, Tozier. And especially don't get your hopes too high, as I said before, for all we know this kid could be dead in a ditch somewhere."

"Okay Bevvie, first of all, this motherfucker's not a 'kid' because the sheet says that he's actually 16 years old." Richie points to a spot on the paper he still held where it states the missing boy's age.
"Whatever trashmouth, let's just go back to my place and prepare for this almost hopeless two-man search. Plus, I've gotta get some food in this tum-tum." She pats her flat stomach with the palms of her hands. "It's about time to eat lunch anyway."

The two best friends interlock hands and skip back to Beverly's small, torn up apartment. Her dad was at work so they had the house to themselves, and extra time to plan their search.

Little did they know that Eddie Kaspbrak had plans of his own. And it would be more than difficult for the two to track him down.
