Chapter 1 - Middle of March

On an unusually warm spring day, Brim Littlesea sits atop a cliff, her legs dangling off the edge. She just stares into the deep, murky sea water, looking like she was contemplating life.

"Hey! What are you doing?" A voice behind Brim startle her, she scrambles away from the edge to make sure she doesn't fall off.

"J-Just admiring the view...?" She looks confused as to who this pale girl with brown hair and brown eyes is, and what she is doing on the reservation. "Why do you care?" Brim glares at the rude girl who interrupted her peace. She hasn't been able to get any peace lately with her younger brother Collin bothering her about playing with him. His friend Seth Clearwater started ignoring him, which is understandable because his father had recently died, and Brady Fuller was acting sick lately. Brim had sat down on the cliff just ten minutes ago to admire the sea.

"Were you going to jump?" The random girl questions her. Brim doesn't understand why this stupid girl is bothering her. She was just sitting on the cliff in her swimsuit, thinking about life.

"What?"

"Like... trying to die?"

"No! Dear God, no. I like the view. And if I was going to jump, it would be for fun. You know, cliff diving," Brim said it like it was obvious. She knew it was rude and that she should act nicer because this girl seemed to care about her, but lately she didn't care about other people's feelings.

"Oh..."

"Bella!" A tan boy with long, black hair races up behind the pale girl. Brim recognizes him as Jacob Black. He's a year older than her in high school, a sophomore, while she is still a freshman. "What are you doing, Bella?" The boy asks. He notices Brim and says, "Oh, hi Brim!"

"I-I though she was going to jump," Bella tells him.

"You like cliff diving?" Jacob asks Brim.

"Yeah, but right now I'm just admiring the view. Anyways... bye!" she says, and falls backward off the cliff, nearly giving Bella a heart attack as she races to the edge to watch Brim surface and wave at the pair with a smirk on her face. Jacob just laughed and shook his head at her as she swam away.

A/N: Yes, a little bit of Bella bashing. Sorry, I don't really like her. I apologize if there is any language in this story. You have been warned. Comment and vote, please! Tell me what you think!
