Draco Malfoy was published. His novel hit best sellers about three months after its release, and he and Harry were over the moon about it. Plus, he was making a ton of money, which helped out with rent since Phoenix closed.
Harry was applying for jobs as a teacher, since he loved kids so much. So far, not too many schools wanted a gay man to teach young children (because they're all bigoted, biased morons, is Draco's reasoning) so it was slow going, but it was fine for now.
Then a letter arrived. "Dear Mr. Malfoy,
The Oracle would love to have you do a segment on your novel, would you be interested?""You should do it!" Harry encouraged, "Get your name out there more! People would love to see you."
Draco relented. "Fine. Only because you insisted though."
The interview would only be about twenty minutes, but it was incredibly stressful to Draco. He needed to a. Make sure he didn't offend anyone and b. Still be honest about his opinions.
The first part of the interview went smoothly. The host, Gina, asked him basic questions, like what inspired him (Harry), what motivated him (Harry), and why he started writing in the first place. (You guessed it, Harry). Then she asked the fateful question: "You mention your partner a lot, but don't give any specifics. Are they a man? Are you gay?"
Draco took a deep breath. "Yes. I'm gay. I'm dating a man. He was the inspiration for the whole book, so you really have him to thank for it." He responded smoothly.
Gina smiles warmly and continued on with her interview. "That's so sweet. What does he do for a living?"
"Other than be an amazing boyfriend, he's currently trying to become a teacher, because he likes kids."
"Aww. Well, it's safe to say many of your readers will appreciate him, whoever he is." She turned to face the camera, signaling to interview was over.
They wrapped up, and Draco hopped in a taxi to get home to Harry. A wrapped parcel remained in the seat beside him. When the taxi stopped, he hopped out and jogged to Harry's door. Draco unlocked it and went inside, instantly hit with a wall of tasty scents from the kitchen. He walked over to Harry kisses him on the cheek, and handed him the mystery parcel. Harry looked at it confused, before removing the outer layer. "Oh, it's a copy of your book! I love the new cover art..." Harry commented.
Draco wriggled excitedly. "Open it."
Harry slowly opened the cover of the book. It felt like the clock froze to Draco as Harry turned past the copyright pages to a blank page with only four words on it. Harry felt tears sting his eyes.
"Oh Draco, it's wonderful." Harry said, with a bit of his joyful tears creeping into his voice. He threw his arms around Draco.
Draco kisses him firmly on the lips. "I want everyone to know that I am in love with Harry Potter." He said, "I will never let anyone keep us apart anymore."
They enjoyed a quiet life, accompanied by more books than most libraries and happiness, and were contented by it. On their fourth anniversary, more than two years after the first book was published. Draco had become internationally known for his work, so it was no surprise that the news tried to follow his and Harry's engagement. They were far too discreet, however, and most fans only found out that they got married by his books, which always had a different dedication page. The four words that always changed.
To my muse, Harry
To my love, Harry
To my husband, Harry
The pages were Draco's simple love letter to Harry, out there for all to see, because he would not hide his feelings anymore. All it took were simple pages to convey his feelings, and all Harry needed to know he was loved.
And they lived happily, bookishly, ever after.
