Jade Colored Eyes

Chapter 1

Authors Note: So I know I said this was a fanfiction and it will be but I haven't published the part where Luke comes in yet, so it will be here soon.

Chapter 1

My eyes have always been the first thing people notice about me. But not in a good way. The doctors can’t explain it, but they say that it’s some kind of weird birth defect. I was born with the eyes of a cat. Green, like two shimmering jades with small slivers of black in the middle, darker than the midnight sky when the stars are missing. Sometimes, if the sun is too bright, it hurts my eyes and I usually can’t see very well in the daytime. But at night, it’s like seeing the world in a whole new way. The stars are extra bright, the moon calls to me. The darkness is my home. In the daytime, colors are faded and my vision is blurred. It feels like looking through prescription glasses that are far too strong for you. The center is clear but everything is too far and blurs around the edges. It’s hard.

 

Everyone tells me my eyes make me gorgeous and unique. They are lying. I am ugly and nothing can change that. They say that with my flowing, light red hair and my pale skin, dotted with freckles like stars on my face, I could be a model or a movie star. But I don’t understand what they see. Because when I look in the mirror, I see a washed out girl, the color of a ghost with hair like a dull rag doll and eyes that only make me stand out the more I try to blend in. Yet, they continue to lie to me. They tell me things that aren’t true and expect me to believe them. The world is filled with liars. The world is filled with lies. But the problem is, everyone believes them.
