This is not fully based off Authorian legend. This is my own idea and I hope you enjoy it.

Years before the birth of Arthur magic became outlawed and those who were born with a gift were hunted down and killed. The nobility of Britain in this historic time laughed, mocked, and disrespected this great nature. Upon one noble man in particular, magic sought justice. Lord Bernard of Shalott mounted on his noble steed drew back his legendary bow and shot his arrow into the heart of a unicorn.

The blood of this innocent creature spilt on the roots of a birch tree, sacred to the druids. After Lord Bernard snapped off the horn of the unicorn a druid dressed in a blue cloak appeared above the unicorns body and cursed what was most precious to Lord Bernard, his legacy. His newborn daughter, Elvyne.

The druid cursed Shalott. The people were driven away and Shalott was cursed to forever be as it is now. Untouched by time. Lord Bernard and his people fled from Shalott with no choice but to leave the cursed child in her crib. Elvyne was left to the mercy of the druids. A curse was placed on the child. With the setting sun of her seventeenth birthday, Elvyne was cursed to forever weave on her loom, unable to look at the world, cast away in a tower where she would spend forever till the curse is broken by true loves first kiss.

In that tower, on an island in the river Elvyne stayed for a hundred years. Never sleeping, never ageing, never seeing the outside world. She could only weave the shadowed images that appeared in the mirror. There she waited, singing at every dawn to mark the new day and every night to mark the night. Waiting and waiting for something to bring her peace.
