They walk in the dark, with bright eyes shining. They wear heavy clothes that are attached to them and are as dark as the sky. They wait outside naughty children’s window. They wait for midnight so they can prey on them and give them a scare.” “Aaaaaaaaargh. Muuum, stop.” I yelled. This was our routine, my mum would cook as she gave me horror stories, not bedtime sweet stories and in doing so, her eyes were always engorged to scare me.  She smiled at me then motioned for me to carry the served food to the sitting room. My dad was there at the corner in his computer. I was never that close to him but in the house his connection to electronics was well known and thus no one dared touch his “stuff”. “Food is ready,” I shouted and that was reciprocated by a glare. I was always in high spirits and my mum always told me that I was the emotional kind. I expressed my emotions both happy and sad in a strong way and that may tend to annoy people who enjoy their peace and quiet. We ate supper quietly and I kept on praying that my father would not remember to look at my homework, which was math today. I hated Math with my whole heart. It was torture for me since my answers were rarely accurate. Sadly, he remembered and asked me to quickly eat so he can go through it. I grunted and he gave me another glare.

I decided to eat a small potion so that he could go through my homework quickly and I could go and read my storybooks. My mother gave me a look, she knew me. She knew I loved eating but she did not comment.  We cleared the table and I proceeded to do my homework corrections with my dad. That night I read a storybook, historical romance and for my age, it may have seemed too much. The White Queen. After some time, I headed to the kitchen and opened it slowly. I was hungry and my mother always knew that when I did not eat much it meant I would sneak in kitchen at night. Therefore, she always kept for me food on a hot pot ready for me. I found it on top of a shelf and headed to the sink area looking for a spoon. I found a spoon and it dropped. I bent and picked it up. Scratching my eyes, I looked outside the window and saw white clear eyes looking back at me. I was frozen and no sound came out of my mouth. I blinked my eyes and it was not there. I decided not to eat and to head back to bed.
