There is one thing I had learned in these type of auctions; the rich aren't interested with the items being auctioned, they just wanted to compete and boast their status by aiming for a higher price in a simple golden fork or a really valuable painting of a dick. There is no in between.
"Hey, A. Any suspicious person in the room? I saw new cars out the garage." I heard Bexley from my earpiece.
"Nope." I answered while watching the show. The man with the gloves lifted the black cloth that hides a ceramic vase that looks like any other antique vases I've seen from my grandparents' house.
It's interesting to watch and witness the increase of the item's amount. The starting price was 3,500 pesos but would be sold for a hundred million. Fascinating, isn't it?
"Hey, you're not enjoying this. Aren't you?" I heard from my earpiece again.
Bumuntong hininga ako at dahan-dahang tumayo sa kinauupuan ko. Naglakad ako palapit sa bar na malapit-lapit sa entrance at nasa gilid ng hagdan. Papunta saan? Hindi ko alam.
I sat at the farthest stool away from the bartender. I actually don't want to drink any alcohol but I don't think they're selling any coffee. Why would I even sit here?!
"I thought the Ferrars wouldn't come?" Napatingin ako sa babaeng nagsalita na nasa kanan ko. Kausap niya yung katabi niya.
"Well, they wouldn't miss these things Clara." The girl answered.
"But...the fire...have you heard of it? Their son being taken away the night of that fire. Horrible. Some theorizes that someone from the Warrens actually kidnapped the boy. It's crazy news." The girl named Clara exclaimed. It's actually so interesting how she talked that much without having trouble breathing. 'Cause who the heck would say all that in a single inhale?
"Yeah. What's weird is, they invited the Warrens in their house before it even happened." She says and then they left with the drinks in their hands.
"Heard that? You need some wine to take that crazy information or else, it will eat you up." The bartender manages to get a sight of a woman sitting in his counter and not drinking. This is a bar and their job is to sell their drinks. Why am I even here?
"Yeah. Insane." I agreed while walking away slowly to go inside the bathroom but I stopped walking midway when I saw Jessica Ferrars, the firstborn of Augustus Ferrars and Margaret Ferrars. She saw me.
I think she saw me. I said in my head while I am walking fast towards the exit and through the dimly lit gardens where few of the audiences would either choose this as a place for making out or just hid from the things that they don't want to be seen from.
I am the latter.
I worked as one of the bodyguards for their youngest son, Miko. But that was because I am on a mission to spy on the Ferrar's daily activities. Then, Veronica died. That's me. That's a fake name to my fake identity and being seen in here would be bad for me.
"Cyber," I called in my earpiece but there was no answer.
"Hello?" I said again and felt my heart beating fast.
"Where the hell are you, Bexley?" I whispered from my earpiece and suddenly I felt a cold metal gun on the side of my forehead.
"Hands." A man said. Slowly, I lifted my arms and raised both of my hands to where he can see them.
"Who sent you?" Pagtatanong niya. Nanatili akong tahimik habang nag-iisip kung ano ang sunod na gagawin.
"Sab. Where the hell are you?" I heard from my earpiece. Finally!
