The secret of immortality was what once made the Elven people divine rulers of all of Avrulux. A fluid connection to magic and all the elements allowed their kind to flourish and rise above all other races across the land. While the most promising of the Elven people were elevated as gods, no realm remained untouched by their influence.

The many lands, seas and ocean depths were inhabited by variants of their race, not even the floating continents remained free from their influence. Through their newly appointed gods, Avrulux appeared to bow to the majesty of the Elves. Under the guise of immortality and invulnerability, their authority was not only unquestioned; it was feared.

Portraying their gods as creatures of example, abstaining from what was referred to as "mortal sin", the Elven gods were said to shy away from sexual pleasures, war, mischief and misfortune. However, this was shown to be nothing more than wishful thinking, that would eventually lead to their disappearance from this world.

Conflict soon arose between Deep Sashelas; the Elven god of the Sea, patron to the sea elves and Erevan Ilesere; the rogue god of mischief. Erevan's proclamation of godhood and his lack of patrons troubled many gods, however none were as troubled as Deep Sashelas, who saw Erevan as a mockery of the Elven people's majesty.

As the conflict between the gods showed little signs of an end, Sashelas approached Ilesere with a peace offering; A handmaiden from his realm of his choosing. Devout and as pure as they were, Isesere humbly accepted the peace offering; offering words of comfort to the ever-disapproving Lord of the Sea. Erevan Ilesere was overwhelmed with joy upon his newly prized possession. The handmaiden was a devout and obedient sea elf, who served her former master without question, however, this was all about to change.

Erevan despised the branches of hierarchy that had begun to separate their people and in protest to the will of the gods, Christened the handmaiden, she would be known as Shyilia to all those in the realm, her status elevated above that of her kin only to soon bear the child of Isesere.

The very notion of a handmaiden and a god falling in love was an act of treachery amongst the Elven people. Should the truth come out, Erevan would be stripped from godhood and sentenced to perish in the world beneath. Erevan loved Shyilia with all his heart, however, knew that it was only a matter of time before they would be discovered. In a moment of panic, Erevan confessed to his ill-doing to the counsel of gods. In an act of mercy, the elven gods spared Erevan and allowed him to retain his status of godhood should his love and their unborn child perish, so that no trace of the god's misdoing be left.

Shyilia, heavily pregnant, learned of her love's plea to the gods that despised him so. With nowhere left to hide, Shyilia was soon confronted by the gods, Erevan once again by their side. As the counsel moved forward to erase any existence of this 'abomination', Erevan rebelled stood and watched Shyilia and his unborn child be banished from the Elven paradise.

However, something mysterious had awakened within Shyilia upon her arrival to Avrulux, the world of mortal men. An unfound power that left the Elven gods of old in such terror, they abandoned the elven people and hid in the cloud's above, abandoning the call of their former people. As the elves and their race soon faded into obscurity, soon to be seen as little more than dirt among men. Shyilia's frightening new powers left her in possession of the gift that all mankind sought, a single seed of the Yggdrasil, the root to immortality.

Using its power to establish herself as 'The Divine', vowing to someday destroy the would-be gods that destroyed her happiness and abandoning her only child to a life of questions, for in her eyes she only saw Erevan.
