this is the start of a new chapter. a new life. I'm leaving my family to go live with my best friend River. i opened the door to apartment 4B I looked around at the open floor plan and endless ideas filled my head. i turned towards River and said, "so this is it?" i smiled while she nodded. i walked in and dumped my stuff on the floor and ran to go pick my bedroom. of course i got the one with the bathroom attached to it. "are you serious? i wanted that one!" River yelled. i giggled and said, "too bad, ribbit." ever since we met I've called her ribbit. mainly because i didn't know how to pronounce her name but i knew what a frog sounded like. and she kind of looks like one so it works out.
we turned on some music and decided to unpack everything we could. "hey i still have some boxes of my records and stuff at home, do you wanna come with me to go get them?" i said. she shook her head and said "nah, I'm gonna go get us some dinner in a little bit and maybe go grocery shopping. do you need anything?" i shook my head and said goodbye while i walked out.
my keys were dangling in between my fingers when i accidentally dropped them. i bent down to pick them up. when i got back up, i locked eyes with a guy in the hallway. i smiled and blushed, even though I'm not sure why. i got into the elevator and brushed it off.
i eventually made it back to the apartment with all of my stuff. it was about 8 o'clock and i come home to see our tv set up, and most of the furniture built. i looked on the counter and saw that River got chinese food for me. "awwww. thank you." i said while she stuffed her face with her own food. i sat down on the couch and looked at the tv to see what we were watching. she had on friends. of course. i looked over at her and said, "so when i was leaving i saw this cute guy and we made eye contact and everything. and I'm pretty sure he lives on this floor." i ate more food and she said, "i hope he has a hot friend." i smiled and we continued watching friends.
we put the food away and turned the tv off. we haven't built our bed frames yet so we're having to sleep on the mattresses that are just laying on the floor. our rooms are disasters. but that didn't keep us from getting a good nights sleep.
it's the next morning at about 9:30. i jumped onto river's bed and shook her. "i want chick fil a let's go." i whispered. she furrowed her eyebrows and out the covers over he face. "get up!" i said, dragging out the "u." she got up and we put our clothes on. we were wearing leggings and big t-shirts, but we still looked good. she drove to chick fil a, and i paid this time. eventually we got back to the apartment building and we got into the elevator, when all of a sudden i see the same guy from yesterday, and he has a friend. he runs and places his hand in between the elevator doors to keep them from closing. "hey, you don't mind if we come in here too, right?" i smiled and shook my head. "what floor?" i said. "4 please." i pressed the button and we sat in the elevator, silent, for way longer than it should've been. we got out and they went to the left, while we went to the right.
i closed the door behind us and set the chick fil a bag on the counter. "that's the guy i was telling you about. and I'm assuming that was his cute friend you were hoping for. she looked at me and said, "that was him? they were BOTH hot. which one was the guy you were taking about?" she said. "the one that was actually talking." she nodded and said, "yeah he looks like your type. his friend was cuter to me though." i shook my head and we talked about random stuff while continuing to eat and unpack our stuff.
