They were there.
Jungkook froze at the screeching sound of his door opening. His eyes went wide while his body seemed unable to move by itself.
He was still sitting on his bathroom floor, accepting the idea that he hadn't been as smart as he had thought while someone else was slowly closing his door.
Now the fact that they had keys was perfectly obvious, fact that didn't put Jungkook at ease whatsoever, if anything it caused the young boy to panic even more.
He tried to ignore as best as he could his shivering body and reached slowly for the light switch, letting himself be surrounded by pitch black.
Although he didn't last long in remember that the lights in his living room were on, and his small notes on the table. He gulped, trying to hold back the sudden urge of shouting at himself for how stupid he was.
His heavy breathing filled the small room he was in. His desire to throw up was increasing every passing second but he refused to let it out, he refused to make a sound, because he knew it could get him killed, this time for real.
He heard the steps getting closer to where he was and immediately brought a hand to his mouth, holding his breath as the steps got more noticeable, until they stopped. Jungkook couldn't tell if they stopped in front of the bathroom door or not but was relieved when after some long seconds they started again, in direction to the staircase that led to the upper floor.
Jungkook now realised how he couldn't hear anything all those days as it was already hard enough to hear something from where he was, and he was on the ground floor. It would be impossible to hear steps from upstairs.
He sighed when he didn't hear anything and brought his hand to his left back pocket, looking for his phone, only to remember he had left it somewhere on the couch.
'Is it that late? They wouldn't come if they didn't think I was sleeping, would they?' Jungkook thought, standing up with shaky legs, trying to be as quiet as possible.
He tried to peek through the small gap of the ajar door, seeing the little wooden and glassy table from where he was standing. His things still placed there.
He thought about running to the couch and taking his phone hurriedly so he could call for help but the sound of someone going down the stairs shut his idea down quickly. He moved from his spot and backed off, hiding himself in the pitch black room.
The figure passed by his hiding spot with slow steps, heading to the door when Jungkook's mobile phone rang.
Right then he was glad he didn't have it with him or he would've fucked up big time. He gulped when the steps retreated from the front door, making his way to the black couch of the living room, stopping when Jungkook's notes came into view.
Jungkook held back a gasp when he was faced by the intruder's back, it was manly. Nowhere near a feminine back. It wasn't small and the baggy black hoddie wasn't helping at all but Jungkook knew it had to be a man, not exactly short in Jungkook's opinion. He would have stared for longer if he had been able to but the tall figure retreated back and soon the door was closed again.
He was alone.
Jungkook's heart was racing with possibilities. He hadn't seen his face but he knew he now was one step ahead of him.
