"How's your mum been?" Harry asked when I slid into his car Monday morning. Over the last few weeks, I had been neglecting spending time with my mother and I felt bad. For as much as I would have loved to enjoy another morning bath with a husky-voiced, sleepy-eyed Harry, I kicked him out to spend the latter part of the weekend with my mother.
"She was oddly happy yesterday and this morning. She kept asking if we could go to the grocery store. Apparently, she walked there on Saturday when you and I were at the Apple store and she came back happier than ever," I explained.
"Maybe she got laid," Harry said, snickering like a child.
I swatted his arm. "Yeah, okay. In the cereal isle??"
Harry shrugged. "You never know."
"She claims she just wants to learn to cook and she keeps buying all kinds of weird fruits and vegetables. Did you know there is this thing called a Mexican gherkin and it looks like a tiny watermelon, but it's actually a tiny cucumber??"
Harry raised his eyebrows and chuckled at my excitement. "Did you taste it?"
"Well, yeah. My mom forced me to. I didn't much like it."
"Really??" Harry asked, surprised. "I love them. My dad buys them all the time."
I crinkled my nose. "Then you have to come over and eat all of the ones my mom bought. We hate them but she keeps going to the store and buying them..."
"I can do that," Harry laughed. He parked the car and leaned across the median to kiss me, his hands cupping my face and pulling me more toward him. I giggled and struggled to untangle myself from my seat belt so I could get over the median to his lap, but he wasn't giving me time to get unbuckled. We both jumped when someone slapped the hood of Harry's car.
"Get out, you nasties!" Miranda shouted, slapping the hood a few more times.
"Hey now!" Harry yelled when she curled her fist into a ball and started to pound the hood. I reached over and pressed the horn of the car, laughing as both Miranda and Niall covered their ears and leapt back as the horn sounded. "That's what you get!" Harry shouted at them.
"Get out!" Miranda whined. "We have news!! Huge news. You're never ever ever going to believe-"
I opened my door and leaned out, not totally ready to set foot on school grounds just yet. I would have much rather just sat in Harry's car with him all day. Lord, this boy had me wrapped around his finger.
"Did you hear???" Zayn asked breathlessly as he sprinted up to Miranda and Niall.
"Hell yeah, we heard!! We're trying t' tell Em and Harry, but they won't get out of the freakin' car!" Niall said, slapping his hands on the hood. Harry honked the horn again.I hung on to the door and leaned back and forth. "Just tell us already."
Miranda began to bounce up and down. "Liam is a father! Raven is the mom! They have a kid and everything - I don't mean, like, she pregnant. I mean she was pregnant and gave birth already and-"
I fell back into the car, slammed the door shut, and hit the lock. Before I could even say anything, Harry grabbed my hand and was staring me straight in the face. "Em, I did not tell anyone-""Well that's funny, because I didn't either!" I squealed. "Harry, what the fuck??"
"Em!" He shouted, gripping my hand more tightly as I tried to pull away and moving his head to try and look at my face. "I didn't tell anyone! I swear on my freakin' life-"
"We're the only two people that know, Harry!" I ripped my hand from his grasp and crossed my arms. "Liam's friendship meant a lot to me and I know-"
