NO MATTER WHAT. She always found her way back to him. Neither knew how she managed such a task, but she always did.
Arabella Victoria Andrei. It was a beautiful name. Some would say it is a blessed thing to be given such a lyrical name. But Arabella didn't believe in such a word. Blessed. There was no such thing as blessed. Anything that could be described as blessed by others, was merely lucky to Arabella. Like getting her name. That was mere luck.
That goes for her looks as well. She was attractive when she wanted to be, or when she needed to be. That could be considered luck in Arabella's eyes, but it was mostly mischief. One day, Arabella could be the world's most beautiful temptress, the next she could be the old hag next door.
That is why Arabella believes in luck, and not blessed things.
It was luck that Arabella was birthed with magical powers. She was like a god amongst people. But she didn't care for them. Any of them. She only cared for one being on the miserable planet called Earth. Him.
Count Dracula of Valaria.
She had known him for centuries. She knew their souls were entwined together, but he seemed to refuse the concept.
But it was not in her vocabulary to stop.
One thing you must know about Arabella Victoria Andrei is that she always gets what she wants, and nothing will stop her from getting it. Even if the subject of her desires refuses her advances.
Dracula always found a way to rid the woman from his life. From fleeing the country she had occupied to trying to kill her. Nothing worked. The longest he had gone without Arabella's presence was about 83 years. Compared to their ages, the separation was a mere speck in the dust of time.
She always found her way back to him. That's what brought her to Transylvania. It had been 38 years since she had last seen him. She hadn't changed at all. Her features remained as youthful and beautiful as the last time The Count saw her. Arabella came from Lyon, France by carriage. When she first stepped onto the black carriage she was greeted by a timid-looking Romanian girl and a scrawny Englishman. Throughout the entire long and exhausting journey, the conversation was slim yet light. She learnt quite a bit about the man. His name was Mr Jonathan Harker. He was recently engaged to his fiance - Mina Murray, a beautiful blonde girl. He was an English lawyer and was travelling to Transylvania, but he did not tell his business to her. Arabella understood why; a lawyer should never discuss a clients business without their consent, so it was wise that Jonathan did not mention it.
Of course, like any other light conversation, Jonathan had asked about Arabella and where she was heading. She could not tell Jonathan that she was a witch visiting the immortal love of her life, the vampire Count Dracula. So she simply said she was visiting an old friend. She didn't reveal a lot about herself, and many of the things she did say were lies.
Arriving at Transylvania, Arabella's excitement grew and grew. "Excited, Madam Arabella?"
Arabella grinned at the sight of the castle. "Very, Johnathan."
As the carriage came to a halt, the young Romanian girl who hardly spoke helped Arabella out of the carriage, as the large pale blue gown proved to step out of the carriage by herself a difficult task.
The silent girl finally spoke up. "Mr Harker, this is your stop as well," Her meek voice squeaked out, her voice laced with a thick accent. Johnathan raised his brows and stepped out too.
"Ah, so your client is Count Dracula, then?" Arabella questioned, a smirk resting upon her features.
Johnathan nodded. "Ah, so your old friend is Count Dracula, then?" He mimicked her words.
Arabella nodded, her mischievous grin growing.
"Mr Harker? Madam Andrei? Please, you must take this," The meek voice of the Romanian girl spoke from behind the two travellers. The girl held out two metal crucifixes to Johnathan and Arabella.
"That's very kind of you. Thank you. I couldn't possibly," Johnathan declined.
"You must!" The girl pushed the cross into his hands, attempting to do the same with Arabella, but Arabella gently shoved the cross back into her hands.
"No offence, sweetheart, but I do not believe in that," Arabella turned back around, strolling around to get a closer look at the fortress, giving Johnathan enough time to deal with the Romanian girl.
"Driver! I'm sorry, but we seem to be some distance from the castle!" Johnathan called out to the man atop the carriage.
"Dear, Johnathan, they won't come any closer," Arabella called out, stopping in her tracks and twisting her neck to glance at the Englishman. "They're scared of the architecture." She chuckled. "The Count will find us here, don't fret."
"How?" He breathed out as he watched the carriage they came on leaving them stranded in the middle of the snow.
Arabella grinned. "He always finds people, Johnathan. He'll send a driver shortly. For now, just admire the scenery before we're stuffed into another carriage."
Johnathan nodded, following her instructions. It wasn't even 5 minutes later when a new black carriage stopped in front of them.
------
After a short half an hour, the carriage had arrived at the fortress. Arabelle admired the outside walls of the castle, the peaks disappearing behind the thick fog, snow and clouds.
"Ah, Johnathan, isn't lovely?!" She exclaimed with a laugh, her cold breath exhaling from her mouth.
Johnathan scanned the fortress, with a nod. "Actually, Driver, could you help us with our cases?" Johnathan asked the ghostly driver atop the carriage. Arabella whipped her head back to the English lawyer, glancing down at his hands that were full holding both his and her cases. She did insist that she could hold her personal bags, but seeing as she only had three reasonable-sized bags, he figured he could manage to hold hers and his three cases too.
The driver stared at Johnathan, not moving from his spot. Arabella moved back to the struggling Johnathan. She grasped two of her bags and held them by her sides. "I don't think he'll help us, my friend," She laughed, practically skipping towards the castle's entrance, Johnathan stumbling after her.
"Oh, charming,"
