The Salvatore House

(5 Days after Vicki's Death)

It was past noon and Elena walked into the Salvatore House after having lunch with Caroline. She walked into Damon's room. He was buttoning down a black shirt to change into a gray v-neck.

"Where did you go?" Elena asked. Damon looked up at her and smiled slightly.

"I was checking out what Sheriff Forbes suggests we should do." Damon sighs.

"Does she know it's Stefan?"

"Yeah. I compelled her to not tell anyone." He makes way over to Elena.

"I think Stefen has become a ripper again. Soon he's gonna move out of Hawkens Falls and start going from state to state. Elena, How are we gonna stop him this time? Lexi is gone and he won't listen to any of us. It's all Katherines fault." He wraps his arms around her for a hug. Elena hugged back. She has never seen him like this. He's scared. He's scared for his brother.

"We should probably figure out a way soon." Elena pulled away a little bit. "I heard Matt talking to the FBI when I went to say goodbye." Damon looked at her confused.

"Why would the FBI want to be involved with an animal attack?" He asked, pulling away completely.

"I don't know. I'm going to talk to Matt about it tomorrow at school." She said, Damon said okay and kissed her forehead.

It was the next day and Elena is on her way to school. Damon reminds her to talk to Matt and she kisses him goodbye and heads to school. As she walks into the front doors when a blonde boy walks up to her.

"Can you direct me to the office?" The boy asks. He is wearing a white shirt with a beige button-up over it and some faded jeans. His face looks kind.

"You're new here?" Elena asks.

"Jack!" A man in a trench coat calls out to the boy. Jack turns around to see who's calling him.

"I found it." The man says as he points down the hallway.

"Yes, I am new." Jack looks back at Elena.

"Jack come on." The man in the trench coat says to Jack. Jack rolls his eyes and turns around and follows him. She could hear him mutter Cas as he walked towards him. She giggled a little bit.

"Who's the new kid?" Caroline asked, popping out of nowhere.

"I think his name is Jack." Elena answers. They both start their way to math class.

Elena planned on talking to Matt about the FBI agents that questioned him. She walked in scanning the classroom for Matt with Caroline beside her. Matt was in the back pulling out his textbook. Caroline sat in her seat and Elena went to go talk to Matt.

"Hey, Matt," Elena said sitting in the seat next to him. He looked up from his bag.

"Hey," Matt said. He looked back down at his bag and started digging around.

"How have you been?"

"I've been okay."

"I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Oh, the FBI agent?" Matt said, pulling a pencil out of his bag.

"Yeah," Elena said looking down. Matt took a deep breath.

"Well, his name is agent Hamill. He asked me a weird question which probably isn't a big deal." Matt said.

"What did he ask?" She is curious.
