Chapter Twenty

It's been about an hour, Steve and I have been serving to people and just talking and that's when Robin opens up the little window.

"We've got our first sentence," Robin announces proudly.

We turned to her. "Oh, seriously?" Steve asked and I raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah." Robin nods. We walked closer to her. "The week is long."

My face fell. "Well, that's thrilling," I muttered.

"I know." Robin agreed. "But, it's progress." She closes the window and I was holding the ice cream from Max and El.

"Okay, here you go, you got a strawberry and then vanilla with sprinkles, extra whipped cream," I had the two girls the ice cream and I looked at them.

Wait a minute. El's not even supposed to be out.

"Thanks," they replied in sync, licking their ice creams.

"Wait a second." Steve suddenly said. "Are you even allowed to be here?"

"No, she's not." I glared at Max. They both looked at each other and giggled before turning around. "Hey! You better be going home right now!"

"Love you!" El cried back and they both run out of the store, making me sigh.

"The week is long, the silver cat feeds when blue meets yellow in the west." We all read allowed the message we had finally cracked.

I scrunched up my nose. What the hell is that suppose to mean?

We closed up Scoops Ahoy, even though it was supposed to close up hours ago but we stayed behind.

"I mean, it just... it can't be right." Steve had shut the gate to our shop before we start to wander towards the exit.

"It's right," Robin argued.

"Honestly, I think it's great news," Stiles says as he connected our hands together.

"How is it great news?" Steve asked as he catches up to us. "I mean, so much for being American heroes. It's total nonsense."

"It's not nonsense." Stiles defends. "It's too specific."

"It's obviously a code," Dustin added on.

"What do you mean, a code?" Steve asks, looking over at us.

"Like a super-secret spy code." Dustin continued.

"That's a total stretch." Steve huffs.

"I don't know, is it?" I made eye contact with my best friend.

"You're buying into this?" Steve scoffed.

"Listen," I tell him. "Just for kicks, let's entertain the possibility that its a secret Russian transmission. What did you think they were going to say, "fire the warhead at noon"?"

"Exactly," Dustin nods.

"And my translation is correct." Robin quickly adds on. "I know that for sure, so... "The silver cat feeds". Why would anyone talk like that unless they're trying to mask the true meaning of the message?"

"Exactly," Dustin repeats.

"And why would anyone mask the true meaning of their message unless the message was somehow sensitive?" Stiles adds in.

"Exactly," Dustin throws his hands in the air.

"So I guess that confirms your suspicion," Robin continued.
