"I really need some caffeine..." I muttered to myself, half paying attention to my video. I couldn't think properly due to a lack of sleep lately. I've been up most nights because I simply can't get comfy in bed.
So, since I'm wide awake at 11 at night most of the time now, I decide to edit the videos that I record during the day. I'm pre-recording content because I'll be flying down to LA next week for VidCon. Hopefully I can get some sleep on the plane....
I grabbed my phone and left my house, locking the door behind me. I walked down a little ways before I crossed into town, about a mile from the coffee shop. As I was walking to Starbucks, I couldn't help but think about the convention. Lots of my friends would be there, and even more fans. I need to be ready to be swarmed at the doors. It's not that I don't like it, I love seeing my fans. But the singing panel.... I'm so nervous!
--------------------------------------
As I reached Starbucks, a dog ran up to me, barking and jumping at my legs. A dark-haired woman came running to the dog, desperately grabbing the leash.
"Oh my Gosh, ma'am. I'm so very sorry! He has no manners at all!" She apologized, embarrassed at the situation.
"No worries!" I reassured her. "It's perfectly fine!"
We wished each other a good day and I went inside Starbucks. The lady at the front counter recognized me apparently and called to the staff behind her to prepare *Favorite Starbucks Coffee*.
"You must be *YouTube Name*!" She said, excited.
"Yes! I am!" I smiled warmly.
"You have no idea how you've helped my daughter! She's in the hospital, and you're the main person she watches!"
"Aww... that's so sweet!" I said as a blue-haired man about my age walked up to the counter. I stepped to the side, allowing him to order.
"Hello, Anne!" The man said.
"Daniel! How nice to see you! The normal for you, dear?" The lady asked him.
"You know me." He said, laughing. "How's Katelyn doing?" (Sorry if that's your name!)
"She's alright I guess. Not the best, but we're praying she will get over it." Anne said, with thick pain in her voice. She excused herself as someone called her to the kitchen. I turn to the blue haired guy, who met my gaze.
"Is Katelyn her daughter?" I asked.
"Yeah. The poor thing has cancer. She's only 13." He said, sadness in his voice.
"Oh no!" I said.
"Yeah. I'm sorry, I didn't introduce myself properly. I'm Dan." We reach out to shake hands.
"Hello, Diamond Minecart! I'm (Y/n)." I said and his face lit up.
"Wait..." He laughed. "I didn't know that THE amazing *YouTube Name* watches my videos!"
"Well... I wouldn't say I'm THAT amazing." I said as our coffees were brought out to the counter. Dan asked if I would like to sit with him, and I gladly agreed. I needed a break from everything after all.
------------------------
We talked for maybe an hour or so about anything and everything we could think of. We had also exchanged numbers so that we could collab on something in the future.
"Well, I better get going. My dog probably got into the cat food again." I said, standing from my seat. "Plus I need to finish editing my videos."
"Oh lucky." Dan laughed. "I've got gamers block. Can't edit if you can't think of a good game to play."
"Well maybe we can get together this week. How about... tomorrow actually?" I asked. "I've got several multiplayer games sitting around."
"That sounds great! What time should I be there?"
" I upload at 6...." I said thinking. "Say... 11?"
"Sure!" He said cheerfully. "So tomorrow at 11, then?"
"Sounds good!" I said, starting to walk off. "See you then! Bye!"
"Cheers mate!" Dan said, waving as I started walking home.
