move-in day

GRACES POV

I sighed watching as my Dad pulled off the exit near Boston University. This was it, it was officially moving in day. I was slightly nervous but not as nervous as I expected to be. I chose BU because of the home feeling I got as soon as I stepped on campus. I loved everything about it, not to mention the nursing program was amazing. The only downside was that it was around 9 hours from my home and family in Clevland Ohio. The closest family I had was 3 hours away in New York City, the downside is that I didn't have a car if I wanted to visit, but I guess I could take the train too. I was somewhat glad that I choose a college that I knew nobody at, I was ready to be done with high school and start new and I'm hoping this is the perfect chance. 

I was excitedly texting my roommate, Emily, who moved in a few hours before. We met over Instagram and I was so relieved not having to get a random roommate. I knew these next few days were going to be crazy, having a packed orientation schedule and classes starting Monday but I was ready to make the most of it. I was always a social girl, but never super outgoing, I always had my friend circle in high school and was content with it but now I'm determined to be social and make lots of friends because you can only do college once right?!

We finally pulled on campus. I had to sign in and grab my key and card, before heading to my new dorm. I walked in and instantly met Emily

"oh my gosh, hi!!" I said excitedly 

"hi!! it's so good to meet you!!" Emily said 

after talking for a few minutes Emily and her family decided to go get some food to leave us to unpack. After a few hours, we were both finally settled and it was time for my parents to leave, with a long drive ahead of them. I was a little sad but knew I was really going to enjoy my time here and I was planning to go visit my aunt and uncle next weekend for labor day. 

Once our parents left Emily and I looked at the schedule we had in front of us, sighing after what seemed like this day has already gone on forever. We were going to a bonfire and glow in the dark volleyball tonight, hoping to make some friends and I was pretty excited!

before we knew it, it was time to get ready! I put on a purple crop top with jean shorts and grey vans before heading out. as soon as we got there we started talking to different people. After a few minutes, Emily whispered, "don't look now but I'm pretty sure those boys are staring in our direction" 

I simply nodded before waiting a few seconds and turning to look, I instantly made eye contact with the one looking directly at us as he smiled, i returned the smile before turning back around. One of the girls we were standing with instantly squealed saying "omg that kids so cute and he's totally checking you out!" 

you just shook your head saying, "he was probably looking at someone else" 

After staying there for a few hours you guys all decided to head to the bonfire and check it out. When you got there you noticed the same group of cute boys. As i walked over the one you previously made eye contact with smiled and asked "hey, do you want this to make smores with" 

you instantly smiled back and said "sure, thanks"

Emily handed me a marshmallow and we both put them in the fire. The boy sat next to me, allowing me time to take in his appearance. He had a backward hat on, semi-long brown curly hair, he had a nice pair of shorts on and a white t-shirt on, he had a fairly nice built and looked like he would be athletic. he instantly turned towards me and said "hey I'm Trevor" 

you smiled and said "nice to meet you, I'm grace" 

"that's a pretty name, for a pretty girl"

you blushed and laughed before saying "what a flirt Trevor" 

he just flashed you a smile and winked 

"what's your major" I asked,

"business management, how about you?" 

"nursing"

"ouch good for you," Trevor said

"where are you from" Trevor continued the conversation

"around Cleveland Ohio, you?"

"wow, how far is that?"

"yeah.. 9 hours or so"

"Woah, I'm from Bedford new york, it's like 3 hours away" Trevor responded 

"oh cool, my uncle lives in new york city, I have no clue if that is relevant to you or what haha" you smiled

"it's about an hour away from me," Trevor said with a chuckle

all of a sudden you hear Emily trying to get your attention, "grace.. umm grace.. grace.."

you looked over at her before she says "um not to concern you but your marshmallow is roasted"

this causes you and Trevor to both looks at the marshmallow laughing

"well, I guess its a good thing I wasn't really in the mood for smores" you laugh before looking at Trevor and Emily and saying, 

"I'm being rude here ill introduce you to my friends" you quickly go around the circle introducing everyone before he introduces his friends. you all hang out until deciding to go to bed. The boys all walk you back, realizing they only live one building over. just as you're about to head inside, you hear Trevor yell, 

"grace wait" you instantly turn back around

Trevor quickly rubs the back of his neck before asking, "could I um get your snap"

you smile and say "of course" you both quickly exchange snaps before heading to your rooms. 

you and Trevor end up snapping until 1 am before both agreeing to go to bed. For some reason I had a good feeling about Trevor, I don't know what but it just felt right and now I was very excited to see what the future held, between classes, friends, and Trevor.
