I heard the loud footsteps come up the stairs, paramedics in yellow suits came through the bathroom door with a stretcher and a defib. "ma'am we are going to have to ask you to leave, we will call you to let you know his condition" an older medic spoke up, I scanned the room, there were three medics, a young male, a middle aged female and the older man. "no, he's my best friend!" "I'm sorry, I know its hard, but we need to follow protocol" I turned and looked at Joel, his usual tanned skin was now pail and I realised he was gone. Forever. I turned my head and walked out the door, there was a police car parked outside, he was talking to a man about the same age as me. The man turned to me; I saw the tears dripping from his face "Jacob?" I chocked out as he ran to me and grasped me into a hug "I-I'm so s-sorry Jacob!" I cried into his shoulder "I-I was too late!" "d-don't blame this on yourself, h-he chose to do this" I released the hug and pulled out the note that was for him, he opened it. I saw his eyes darken with sadness and his shoulders slouch. The police officer came over to me, Jacob was still reading and he just seemed to block the officer out "excuse me ma'am, what's your name?" i looked at the dark haired woman "uh Melanie" "thank you Melanie, we are going to have to quarantine his house, would it be possible for him to stay with you while we do some digging?" i nodded my head and turned to Jacob, the note was folded in his hand and he was looking up at the sky "Jacob?" he turned and looked at me "yeah?" "lets go" he simply nodded his head and we made our way to the car "thank you" I mouthed to the officer, she smiled sympathetically and said "we'll do what we can" I nodded my head and drove off. The car ride was silent, Jacob was staring out the window, his black hair messy and covering his face "Mel?" I hadn't noticed the tears that had started to pour out of my eyes "y-yes?"

"do you want me to drive?" i shook my head

"I'm sorry It-It's just" I thought for a moment before closing my mouth "yeah, I don't know what to feel either" I looked into his dark brown eyes and gave a completely fake half smile. When we got home, I stumbled to open the door, fuck! I yelled after dropping the keys for the second time. I felt Jacobs hand rest on my back its fine, take your time I made eye contact with him, his black hair almost completely covering his eyes, his face tear streaked. I knew this was hard on him thanks. When we got inside, I showed Jacob to the spare room do you want anything to eat? Jacob gave me a small smile Im good thanks, I think I just need to sleep everything off I found myself crying at his words, the silent tears running down my cheeks, stinging as they hit my swollen and puffy face okay, ill see you when your feeling better then? Jacob simply nodded his head and closed the bedroom door. I sighed, I couldnt blame him, I wasnt hungry either. I went to my bedroom, I got into the shower, I let out all my emotions. My eyes fell upon the replacement blade for my razor on the soap stand. When I got out my legs felt heavy, I pulled on an oversized t-shirt. My legs crumbling to the floor against my own wait fuck! I yelled as my knees hit the wooden floor. My vision was blurry, I saw my door swing open and felt hands on my back Melanie?! the familiar, deep, raspy voice filled my ears. FUCK! he yelled; before I fell into darkness.

My eyes fluttered open. I felt a shooting pain fill my head ah, fuck I gripped my head with both hands. When my eyes adjusted, I saw my usual room, the navy blue walls, my creme coloured wooden floor. My room looked cleaner though shes in here doc. Colbys voice filled my ears, I heard multiple footsteps coming towards my room. I pretended to be asleep. When the door opened multiple voices filled the room I have her file here I heard an unfamiliar voice say from the blood tests I took on her last week, it seems she hasnt been taking her medication as required

what medication? I heard Kat ask. I heard papers rustling and felt a pressure on the bed next to me her anti-depression pills I felt a long pause, I needed to open a window because the air was so thick how long has she been on those? Kats voice filled with regret and sadness

her first prescription was three years ago, but from her recent blood test it seems she hasnt been taking them for about a month. Before I go though, when she wakes up she will probably be sick, get a bucket in here just in case. take care you two. Call me when she wakes up I heard shuffling around, and the door closed. Kat, I think you should go home and get some rest. You havent slept in days, Ill look after her the pressure on my bed released yeah your right, call me if she wakes up.
