Italics: Flashback in a way

--

The dark haired male had fled to the mountains after first completing the Pokédex for his region. Yet, why? There was no good reason, he became champion and everything!

The day that they started their journey, Red began to realize his true feelings.

His former rival had also questioned his disappearance to the mountain.

He realized that he cares deeply for Green, wanting to be near him more. Yet, Green was cruel to him, which, would be more like everyone.

There was truthfully only one reason, Red wanted to end the last of his emotions as they only hurt him more.

Within days, Red became weaker. He wasn't aware of what was happening. He started to cough more. He had coughed up blood countless times.

He had only learned to hide them. If he had been alone enough, he would start to hopefully forget about Green.

He went to the Pokecenter, trying to search for what was happening. Nurse Joy has explained to him that he had Hanahaki, a disease based around love.

It was a funny joke.. trying to forget about someone. His childhood friend, his rival, his love-interest, his everything.

He only had a few years left with how bad it was. It hurt him more then the disease, to know that Green didn't love him back.

Red began to cough, large amounts of blood escaping, a few petals fell onto his hands. The small mouse-like Pokémon immediately went to his trainers side with a towel in its mouth.

He never said a word to Green about any of it, knowing that it would just make the situation worse. Reds Pokémon strugged to keep their trainer safe when he had them out.

He wiped his hands and mouth with the towel gently. A small knocking sound rang throughout the house. Red sighed weakly, already knowing exactly who was at the door.

There was nothing anyone could do to help Red after he learned that Green began to date Blue, a trainer just like them. Hell.. Green probably wasn't even into guys, so what chance could Red have?

Within moments, the door opened and the porcupine entered. "Red? The hell are you doing on the ground like that? You should go back home sometime, you'll get sick up here."

At a swift rate, Red stopped talking overtime. He learned that it began to hurt to force himself to talk, especially infront of him.

Green shook his head. "Well, it's official. Blue and I are going to get married." Red felt his heart tighten and the urge to cough built up within seconds.

Somehow, Green had still understood Red. Neither of them discussed why he stopped talking. What if Green knew?

"We planned for it to be on June 12th. I wanted you to be the first person to know." Green sat down next to him, with a grin. A few months? Wasn't that the day that Nurse Joy said would be near his deadline? Red looked over to the porcupine and nodded.

It was impossible for him to know. Nurse Joy had agreed to tell nobody. In order for that agreement to be made, he had to promise to come in for annual check ups at least once every two weeks.

"So, I'll take that as a yes. I'm glad that I finally managed to get you out of this place. It's so cold! I don't know how you can take it." Green shivered slightly.

--

Months have passed, and the time has finally come. It was the night before Greens wedding. Red felt that if he saw Green get married in front of him, he could finally be freed of his love for him.

Red moved quietly around his house, at a somewhat slow pace. He stopped the second he saw his reflection in the mirror. He was covered in different types of flowers. He really didn't notice until now.

When was the last time that he even bothered to check a mirror? He couldn't be seen like this.. it was too late after all. Why did he think that there was still hope?

He began to cough, slightly covering his mouth with his hands. Pain raced through his lungs as he tried to gasp for air. His throat felt strangled by something.

He collapsed against the wall, sliding down to the floor. His thoughts began to throb, barely able to hear anything around him. Reds vision began to blur, making it difficult to see.

Something began to shake him back and forth, slightly bringing his vision to focus on the handsome male in front of him. He seemed to be yelling something.

"G... reen?" Red spoke softly, his voice raspy and stuttering just a bit. He hasn't heard his own voice in who knows how long. It allowed himself to draw his thoughts to hear what Green was trying to yell.

"Red!" He basically screamed.

Wasn't there a time when we were younger when we promised to marry each other when we got older?
