Ranger’s POV

“Remind me why I’m doing this again.”

“Because… uh well it’s not like you have anything better to do anyways right.”

I had nearly muttered a  “That’s not true,” out of habit. A huge wall of text reimbursed in my mind. Stray words started littering my mind with ideas that had already materialized. The incident seemed like a stray cat you fed once and refused to stop showing up at your doorstep.

“…”

“Sorry.” My brother sighed at his remark.

Bruce’s words poked sharp in comparison to his machine that was gently smoothing out the applied tape on my back.

“Relax a bit, or it won’t be comfortable once you stick it on.”

I nodded my head in response and tried to loosen up. “So, how can I be of service today sire? What do I do with this?”

The neon blue tape extended from my back down to the back of my legs, to my wrists and up to my neck.  The tape brought back a familiar tightness on the muscles comparable to KT tape back when we did sports in Secondary School. He handed over a notebook. There was a new stain on the side of the book. It smelt like freshly brewed coffee. The page was actually damp and warm.

what he had highlighted:

MANIPULATION PROTOTYPE

features:

1. water super-heating aka kpt something something I couldn't and can't read his handwriting

2. static

3. gas (temperature manipulation)

4. flamethrower

p.s. If Bruce wore a white shirt everyday, (and consistently cared about how he looked) he’d spend more money on bleach and detergent than on coffee.

He strapped on an engine which was much lighter compared to the last time he had pulled me in for one of his too-smart-to-be-stupid shenanigans. He hooked up an earpiece to my ear. On the table opposite me, there was a water tank attached to various tubes and moulds meant to fit my fists, elbows and feet.

The thunder clapped. So he’d been meaning to test this piece of crap out in the rain, well that made sense.

“Alright Prof. let’s go.”
