I was up at 6 am, just couldn't wait to see him. My flatmates were all still sound asleep so I had the bathroom for myself. I put on only a little makeup and dressed casual but nice. 9 am – the minutes kept ticking away. I sat in the common room waiting when one of my flatmates came of of her bedroom. "Mornin'. Off to job hunt?" "Mmmh" I nodded. Stephanie went to the kitchen to get a coffee, yawning. The doorbell rang. "I'll get it!" and ran to the intercom. I answered "Who's there?". "Um, is Kriss there?" "I'll come down." I pushed the door opener so that Hugh didn't have to stand on the street. "Who's it?" Stephanie asked. "A friend. See you later!", and I ran down the stairs. I nearly fell down the last few steps as I missed one running down. Hugh caught me with his strong arms and I felt at home. "Hey, wow Sweetie, no need to fly into my arms." He laughed. I loved how he kept that nickname for me.
Needless to say that Hugh looked gorgeous, even though he had disguised himself with a dad hat and sunglasses. Also he didn't wear his signature Laughing Man T-Shirt. With the stubble it would be difficult for a by-passer to recognize him. But just seeing him made my spine tingle, my eyes twinkle and my heart flutter. The last time we met he had told me that since he had met me, he didn't make out with any other women on set. He said that he was "cured" from that. He said that what he found with me couldn't be repeated and he was fine with that now.
He planted a kiss on my lips. "So good to see you. Where are we going?" I told him I didn't know much yet but I saw a small café one block down. So this is where we headed. As soon as we sat down and ordered a coffee (Hugh) and a Bagel (me) he wanted to know all about my assignment. I told him that that the Musical would open in 6 months, just a small production but it was a step in the door, right. He also suggested that I should hurry to get some singing lessons and also dancing. I said that I was just starting to look around and also looked for a job to pay for my rent and hopefully move out to something smaller, with maybe just one other person to share.
When we had both finished our coffee and I had managed to finish my bagel (I just couldn't stop drooling over him and forgot to eat) we went back to the street and he stopped a taxi. "Come on, let me show you something" he said. He told the driver the address and we drove to the city. "What is it?" I asked curiously. "You'll see" he smiled.
Finally we arrived. We got out and he led me to what looked like an old factory site. Obviously, it had been refurbished and I saw many names of companies around the doors. Hugh retrieved a keyring from his pocket and pulled me to one of the unmarked doors. Two floors up he unlocked another door.
He opened it, went in and turned on the lights. "Tadaaa!!" His pose reminded me of the PT Barnum ringmaster pose. "Welcome to my dance – slash – practise studio" he beamed. I looked around. A large room with mirrors on two walls, one was all windows so the light flooded in, wooden floors, barres, everything what you needed, obviously. "If you need a room to practise, I can make you a set of keys and you can come here whenever you want. You'll be completely undisturbed. Let me show you around." I was speechless!
There was a separate shower, a dressing room with some lockers and even a room with a comfy looking couch and a TV set. "I come here when I have a new assignment, or just to work out. I love it to be here alone. So please share the pleasure with me." I was just shaking my head in disbelief. Then I hugged him tightly, he kissed my head. "Thank you so much!" "No worries, Sweetie" he answered in his most beautiful Aussie accent.
He glanced at his watch. "Oh gotta hurry. I have another meeting before school's out. Hey, let's meet here tomorrow morning. Show me what you have to learn. I'm not a very good teacher but I know a few steps." He kissed me again and caught separate taxis outside.
