chapter 5: the school duel tournament

When naruto asked the chanselor to assemble the duel academies top students to see who's going to be joining the highly secretive red fox of nine tails dormitory. Let's just say that every student wanted in but they weren't dueling each other. They were dueling in team's of three to see who's more compatible with each other. naturally Jaden and Sirus wanted to be a part of the tournament but naruto said they were already part of the dormitory so there's no reason to compete. All of the students were gathering outside in the forest were naruto's dormitory duel arena was. The reason for this was simple really. The natural elements would provide a power boost to each monsters attributes.
They saw naruto sitting under a tree meditating getting ready for the battles ahead. Alexis and her brother Atticus from obolisk blue, bastion from Ra yellow, Chad Princeton from obolisk blue,chumly from slifer red, and Zane from obolisk blue.and a new girl to the slifer red dorm Blair Flannigan. Naruto had expected a good turnout but not this good.
Naruto the got up and said.

"Welcome everyone. To my personal duel arena. Now your probably wondering.
Why the forest???. Why not the indoor arena???. My reasons are simple. Each of your decks monster cards has a certain attribute. By dueling out in the wild like this their natural attributes will increase their attack and defense power by a substantial amount of points depending on the attribute of the card played. Light monsters gain a boost from sunlight,Water from the lakes, Earth from the ground and tree's around you, dark from the shadows, and warriors from an open field.
What I want to do is see how well you use these attribute increases in strength and power to your advantage.
Impress me and one of you lucky students will be joining Sirus and Jaden as my students and taught by me personally. You will be paired up with other students in groups of three. This is to determine who works well together in a handicap duel of three against one. Don't worry about me. Because I'm your opponent. And I'm holding nothing back. I'm using my most powerful cards and I suggest you do the same. Your names will be picked at random from this hat. Whoever you pick are the people your partners with. Now please step up and one at a time pull a name from the hat."

Alexis then counted the number of people who are present and said.

"Wait a minute. There's only seven people here. Which means that only TWO people from the first two groups might get a chance of helping out the seventh student here.
What are you planning???."

Naruto then looked at Jaden and Sirus and said.

"Jaden.. Sirus..do you still want to compete???."

And Sirus said.

"Of course we do professor naruto. Why do you ask???."

And naruto said.

"You see the girl over there in the slifer red jacket???. She needs two more teammates.
Why don't you go join her so we have an even nine people??."

Jaden and Sirus then said.

"Alright!!!. We get to compete!!. This is going to be fun!!!."

Zane then said.

"It figures. You never change little brother. You still don't know when or how to take things seriously do you???.
Your still unconfident in yourself. Aren't you???.
This isn't a game Sirus.
Learn to grow up for once will you???."

Naruto then said.

"I'm going to enjoy beating you all over again Zane. You just made a very big mistake.
Your the reason he's so unconfident. Your the reason why he thinks so poorly of himself. He's always looked up to you as his idol. His inspiration. He's always compared himself to you because he feels he's got expectations to live up to as your brother. Well I can assure you that your wrong about him. He's got one thing you never will. Friendship.
Did anyone bother to read the plaque with the core values of my dormitory???.
If not then let me show you all what it says."

The nine students then walked over to the sign that was above the forest entrance which read.

"Honor,courage and friendship.

These are the qualities of a true duelist.

Honor: one must be true to themselves and loyal to their deck. And duel as fairly as any real person would.

Courage:one must be able to face any challenge without fear and without doubting themselves. every card counts.

Friendship: one must be loyal to their friends and comrades in order to succeed. For without friends your without a purpose to continue fighting."

After reading the core values of the red fox dormitory everyone realized that this wasn't a dorm for the acceptional. Or gifted.
This was a dorm for the outcasts!!!. For students who had no idea what it's like to be the same. Naruto then turned to the students and said.

"Please keep this in mind if your chosen. For a person without these core values has no place in my dorm. Now who is ready???. Please step forward when the person who has your name calls it out."

Alexis then said. I'm with... Atticus. Why did I get stuck with my own arrogant brother???."

Atticus then said.

"Well I don't like that I'm stuck with you either sis.
But at least we have a chance to win because Zane is with us."

Bastian then said.

I'm with Chaz Princeton. Great...this will be interesting."

And Chaz said.

Yeah well I don't like that I'm stuck with you and that slifer red butter ball chumly."

And chumly said.

Oh that's just lovely.
Bastian the brainiac and Chaz Princeton the rich boy wonder. I hope you don't mind me asking how that's going to work out."

Jaden then said.

"I guess that means we're the ones stuck together also Sirus. Blair. Let's do our best to win this one."

And Sirus said.

"Alright. Jaden if you say so."

Jaden then said.

"Come on Sirus. Where's your sense of adventure???.
Besides..this is a chance to see what's behind that secret door I the main dormitory.
Aren't you curious about what is behind there???."

And Sirus said.

"Well...you do have a good point Jaden. The professor did say that once the third and final student was chosen he would show us. So my curiosity is getting the best of me. Okay let's do it."

Naruto then said.

"Great. Now that the team's have been given. Let the tournament begin!!!."

Alexis Zane and Atticus then stepped up and said.

"Let's duel!!!."

Naruto then said.

"Alright. but first. To ensure we have no interruptions.
Wood style: barrier Wall!!!.
This is a technique I managed to learn back in my own world. You see. I am not your average teacher or duelist. I'm the true genuine article of a ninja. You people didn't think it was just a title I have did you???."

Zane then said.

"So these walls are to keep the others from seeing in. In other words...this is a three against one private test.
If you think we should be scared... we're not."

And naruto said.

"Your right Zane. This is a private test. But only if you can lay a hit on me without losing any of your own life points will they come down."

And Alexis said.

"So we're stuck in her with each other until we either hit you or defeat you???. I'm beginning to think this isn't as easy as it sounds."

Naruto then said.

"The three of you have the first move."

The tournament had begun.
Only one more student who demonstrated the three core values of the red fox of nine tails dormitory would truly win. And all others would fail. One thing was certain.
The students were way in over their heads. Who would win the honor of being chosen as the third student???. And who would stay stuck in their current dormitory forever???. Only time would tell.
