Presentation Time

It's now time for us to give our presentations. Of course, everyone else is giving theirs in front of Ms. Spencer and my dad, as well as Paula and Carlos. I'm giving mine in front of my dad and Paula, since I get anxious around Ms. Spencer and Carlos for some reason when I give a presentation. It's probably because she's so good at her job or something. I was just glad that Grace showed me the app that she uses on her laptop to speak so that I can too, if I chose not to actually speak. I'm not sure yet. I had my acoustic in the corner so that I can perform one of his songs.

"Alright, everyone, it is time for your presentations, so let's get ready to not mumble!"dad said before we all got up to go into the hall before everyone's presentations started. "Hey, real quick, before you head out into the hallway to wait your turn, there's been a last-second change. Um, Ms. Spencer is going to be grading you, aside from Violet." dad stated. Marisol just wrapped her arm around me and rubbed my shoulder. "Ooh! My ginger sister from another mister." Walt said.

"Yo, last-second changes are always bad news. Like when Jackie O said, 'Oh, it's such a sunny day out. Let's not take the bulletproof car.'" Lorenzo stated. Marisol points at him in agreement as dad chuckles. "Relax, Lorenzo. This is actually a good last-second change. Uh, kinda like when they gave the Oscar to Moonlight instead of La La Land." dad explained. The majority of the class nodded in understanding and agreement. "Uh-huh. Come on. A white guy saving jazz." dad said before we all kinda snickered. "Anyway, if there's any one person at this school who's nicer than me, it's Ms. Spencer." Dad said, attempting to ease everyone's panic. Then she walked in, her hair in a tight bun, reading glasses on her face, and a very stern look. It's definitely a good thing that Paula is proctoring mine, as well as dad and Carlos. Dad doesn't know what I'm up to because I've been practicing it with Marisol almost every day after school since it was assigned. The door slammed behind her, making me jump. "Alright. Let's get this over with." Abby stated. I walked outside with everyone else. Paula just happened to be walking by when she saw me in the hall, waiting for my final. "You ready for this?" she asked me. I nodded. "What happened to Ms. Spencer?" I asked her in sign. "Her fiancé cheated on her and she just found out." she replied. I definitely made a face. "Yikes." I signed in reply. "Glad I'm proctoring your exam?" she signed. "Absolutely." I replied.

As everyone went in and out of the classroom, I noticed a few of them were shaken by Abby's attitude today. Marisol went in first. After she finished hers, she came back out and sat with me against the lockers as I waited for my turn. Then Grace entered. Marisol then had to go to work, so Mikey stayed with me, despite the fact that Mikey didn't understand me the way that Marisol did. Mikey is the last one Ms. Spencer is going to grade.

Soon enough, it was my turn to go in and present. Ms. Spencer was asked to step out of the room for a moment while my presentation was going on since she sets off my anxiety. "Okay, Violet. Whenever you're ready." Paula stated, giving me an encouraging smile. I took a few deep breaths before giving my presentation.

Any ideas on who her presentation should be on? I was thinking maybe Helen Keller, but I wanna see what you all come up with.
