"Are you nervous?" Jon asked as he caught up with Robb and fell into step with him.
"No, why would I be?" Robb snapped back, clearly nervous and trying to hide it.
"Because tomorrow you're married off to a Lannister." Jon said with a light laugh. As he looked towards the castle. "I suppose, at least you're marrying one of the nice ones."
Robb didn't say anything else as they approached the castle. They had left early in the morning, he wanted a walk, to clear his head before the kings party arrived.
"Isn't it exciting. In a few hours we will be hosting a wedding!" Sansa practically sang as she ran up to her brothers. The septa cleared her throat and Sansa immediately found her ladylike decorum through the excitement was still clear across her face.
"Robb does not seem quite as excited as you!" Theon joked as he drafted out to the courtyard. He'd been sent to find Jon and Robb, Catelyn wanted them to clean up and prepare for the king's arrival in a few hours. She had sent for them almost forty minutes before.
"You are not the one that has to be married off!" Robb joked as he tousled with Theon who laughed and led the way inside. Sansa smiled and decided to go and look out for the first sight, of what she imagined, the kings travelling party.

"I do not want to." You said in a quiet voice that was almost drowned out by Joffery complaining.
"I know my love, but it is what your grandfather is insisting on, you go through with it and keep your head high." Cersei said as she led you out of the carriage. She looked around what would be your new home, until Robb gained his own castle. Cold and dirty, she couldn't help but turn her nose up at it. Not unlike Myrcella you were kinder and softer than our mother, your looks were similar to hers though you held Roberts blue eyes, unmistakable. Cersei heard the whispers about you, that you were the only proof existed that proved the rumours about her and Jaime wrong, she fear they might be right at times.
It was late but it seemed the entire castle had come out to greet you. On the way through the north you'd visited castles that had welcomed you, but none had quite the gathering or daunting affect like Winterfell.
It's a prison. You thought to yourself as you looked at the high walls. The walls at home, in the keep, had flowers spilling over them, you could stand atop them and see for miles over the city and the coast. Beautiful flowers sprung from any part you looked at. Here all that seemed to grow was grass and trees swamped by mud.
"Your grace!" Lord Eddard greeted. You stopped paying attention as you spoke. Yu couldn't tell which boy was Robb, so many eyes seemed to dart to yours when you tried to see if you could tell.
"He is the tall one, with curled hair." Tyrion said from your side. He always seemed to know what you were thinking. Cersei said that you needed to learn to hide that better, or the wolves would snap you up, without time for your family to save you. That thought haunted you. You'd seen the hunting dogs attack a rat that had been trapped in the kitchen. You wanted to be nothing like the poor, trapped creature.
"Mother, will they make me marry him now?" You asked with uncertainty when your father swept your siblings towards the Starks and people started to file into the castle.
"First thing in the morning." She said irritably. It had been Roberts idea to marry you off to Robb, she'd managed to push the day further and further back, but now she had run out of excuses.
There was a meal to celebrate the king's arrival. You were sat beside Robb, you would have rather sat with your sister and the Stark girls. On occasion you would catch the disgruntled look on your mother's face, her eyes would soften and a look of misery would hang for just a moment, making her look soft and tired.
People around you tried to encourage you to speak to Robb, the words escaped you, Joffery did all the talking. Now you found yourself being questioned by lords of the north and Robb's friends, you didn't want to speak. You wanted to be at him, sat beside your mother as she told tales to Tommen.
"(Y/N)!" You father called from the high table. "Come, Robb too." As his booming voice echoed across the hall you stood and walked to the table. Your head was down until you remembered, head high with pride, words you'd had burrowed into you by Cersei all your life.
"Yes father?" You said politely.
"Tell my dear friend how glad you are to join our houses and marry his son!" He demanded. It came off as a fatherly request, but it rang in your ears as a demand.
"Very glad Lord Stark." You muttered out, staring at the table, rather than meeting the Lord's gaze.
"So sincere." Lady Stark said sarcastically. Angry flared in Cersei's face but when you answered the Lioness in her seemed to be tamed for a moment.
"Forgive me, my lady, unlike my brother Joffrey I do not often have the luxury of leaving the Red Keep. I have seen so many new places these last days. It is overwhelming and tiring. I am sure after some peace and rest I will be able to enjoy your... sons company." You spoke with a confidence that only Joffery could muster. Cersei seemed quite proud of you as Lady Stark spluttered over what to say next.
"Perhaps you should retire. It is an important day tomorrow my child and we would not want you tired." Cersei suggested. You had to hide the relife that filled your face as Cersei stood. "I do apologise for leaving the feast so early. If you would forgive a mother her last moments with her child."
There was no time for answers as she moved to sweep you away from Robb and towards the room that was yours for the night. Once out of sight she took your hand.
"He could be worse... couldn't he?" You muttered to her as she cleared the room of servants who scurried away from her.
"He could. I suppose. You must be strong now, your uncle Jaime will stay with you for a time, I will demand it. I cannot trust these people to protect you. Not with how they feel about us."
"The royal family? Is it not treason to..." You trailed off, frowning and looking to her. She stood at the door and sighed.
"My child, I had hoped to protect you, for longer than this. Our family has many secrets and now you are old enough to marry it is time I explained them to you. Joffrey could never understand or care. But you'll need these to survive. Your father, your grandfather, have entered you into a dangerous game."
She sat beside you, telling you so many things that by the time she was done, you fell asleep in her arms, confused but prepared. To your father marry Robb was joining houses that loved one another. To everyone else in the seven kingdoms it was a battle move.
