Katherine walked past the people towards the bar. She never knew why she comes to the new year parties that her office throws, but it wasn't like she had anything better to do and plus she was forced by her best friend Megan to attend it. The only thing that keeps Katherine sane at these kinds of parties was the free drinks.
She sat at the one of the bar stool and asked for a strong drink. She took a sip and watched as she saw her co-workers having a great time. She saw Megan dancing on the dance floor with some guy. Then there was Jem, her boss's assistant who was stuffing his face with food. Katherine knew hard work and she was doing good in the office but she was never happy and maybe she knew why but she refused to think about it.
As she was sipping the drink her eyes fell on a stranger, a beautiful stranger. She couldn't take her eyes off of him for some reason. He was standing not so far away and she took her time to drank his features. He was in a three piece suit as if he was working late because his tie was loosened. He had honey brown eyes which was familiar. Before she could admire him more Megan's voice interrupted her and she turned to face her.
"Why are you always at this bar, come dance with us." Megan said pulling Katherine away from the bar.
Katherine turned to look at the stranger again only he wasn't there so she let Megan drag her to the dance floor.

"Do you need another drink?" The bartender asked and Katherine nodded putting her glass on the table knowing fully well that Megan will kill her if she sees her here. There were many guys who were eyeing her but she didn't pay attention to any. It wasn't because she wasn't interested in guys. Katherine knew she was sexy and that she could get any guy she wanted but she wasn't looking for just 'any'. She'd already given her heart and it was impossible for her to love anyone else ever again. She was gulping down her sorrows when her eyes landed on a familiar guy.
Katherine hardly forgets a face and a face like that was indeed hard to forget. She forgot to breathe when all of a sudden he looked up and his eyes met hers. There was a pull and those eyes were so familiar like she has seen them more than a thousand times. For some reason she couldn't look away and so did he. She drank his features without getting interrupted, perfect eyebrows and thin lips which were so pink and kissable. Katherine shook her head before her thoughts went afar. She turned to look at the bartender.
"Hey, do you know that guy who is standing right there?" She said pointing towards that guy's direction only this time he wasn't there.
"Who?" The bartender asked.
"He was just here. Where did he go?"
"Who went where?" The bartender asked again confused but she stopped listening and got up from her chair looking for that face. She pushed past the people to look for him but she lost him. He vanished again and Katherine felt uneasy at that because she wasn't sure why she was looking for him in the first place. There was something that was familiar about him and she didn't know whether it was bad or good.

Katherine made a promise that she would not come to this office party this year because of how bored she gets but her best friend Megan didn't took 'no' for an answer and dragged her here. So here she was again drinking whiskey. Katherine was never happy in her life. She never had a boyfriend because she loved only one guy name Evan who died in a fire when she was just ten years old but she knew she loved him because she still couldn't get over him. She missed him every day even though she didn't have a single picture of his.
"Come on, let's dance Katherine." Megan said when she saw Katherine once again pushing down her sorrows with lots of drinks. Megan always worries about her but she never questions her nor judged her and that's why Katherine loved her.
