The sounds of the crickets chirping was one of Emma's all time favorite sounds. It meant summer- happiness, friendships, new beginnings as everyone finds themselves getting ready for a new school year. This school year was going to be different though. Emma Grace was going to be going to a new school Redsen Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Despite being an entire school in the south a lot of people still had a hard time coming to terms with the acceptance of witches and wizards so most purebloods had to be "homeschooled" for a very long time.
Emma sat up in her bed and the fresh smell from the woods outside came into the window, she felt a huge grin plaster over her face as she knew tomorrow was going to be an amazing day, the trip to Birmingham with the train ride to Huntsville- though short- was still going to be exciting.
She felt a smile as she thought about how their little world had come together. For so long people didn't really have an option for a Wizarding school if they were poor or if they couldn't attend Ilvermorny but a few years ago a few men had decided to take a trip to take a look at it and absolutely fell in love with it. Then Redsen Academy came to be.
A small black cat jumped on Emma's bed and kneeded and purred. She needed to get to sleep for the trip tomorrow but she knew with how excited she was she was probably only going to get a few minutes at most.

"Alright Emma do you have your wand?" Emma's mother asked.
"Check."
"Do you have your luggage?"
"Check."
"Do you have Kitten?"
"Check!" Emma pet the soft kittens head and gave her a small kiss on the head.
Emma looked out the window and watched as they made their way to the interstate. The trip to Birmingham itself took about an hour which Emma found slightly annoying because the drive to Huntsville took about three, but nonetheless she enjoyed road trips.
"Oh honey did you hear? Harry Potter made it to Hogwarts yesterday."
"Mom I don't want to hear about Harry Potter. Everybody knows all about them boy who lived' and I don't see what the big deal is. I think that somebody cast a protection spell or something that kept him from getting killed or something I don't know but everyone's going to talk about him and todays a very special day."
"Sweetheart you know the death of Voldemort was a huge deal over in London and the fact that it was a child that ended his reign nonetheless."
"Exactly mom. It was a big deal over in London because of a child I don't really care about it. Harry Potter has no significance in my life."
There was a soft sigh from her mom and they drove in silence for a bit longer.
"Momma. If the traffic doesn't speed up I'm going to miss the train."
"I still don't understand why they're requiring you to take the train. When I went to Ilvermorny I could understand that but it's only a few hours drive."
"Well I was wondering about that so I looked into it and apparently it's purely for aesthetic."
"What?!"
"Apparently when the headmasters traveled to other Wizarding schools one of their favorite aspects was one the train ride and then two the sorting into houses."
"Oh honey do you know how hard it is having house pride and only your fellow witches and wizards actually understanding because it's not like you can go around parading your pride when the no-maj's have absolutely no idea what you're talking about."
"Well I did find out the houses and fortunately if I get Elephant or Tiger I can easily parade around as Alabama or Auburn."
Emma's mom laughed as she pulled under the bridge to the not very safe looking train station.
"Alright sweetheart hide kitten and lets get you on that train."
Emma gathered her suitcases and made her way into the station and went up a set of stairs. She looked at the ticket in her hand.
"It's not 4 1/2 is it?" Her mom asked.
"Wait you mean there's one at 4 1/2?"
"I mean there's more than just 1, 2, 3, 4 so I mean wouldn't there be 1 1/2, 2 1/2 ect?"
"Well I'm set to get on at 3 1/2."
Her mom smiled at her. "Perfect."
She took her things and went through the pillar at 3 1/2 and Kitten jumped out of her hoodie and ran onto the train.
Emma's mom gave her a huge hug and kissed her head.
"I wish dad would have been able to come on his break. I hate that they didn't let him have the day off."
"I know honey I know but we'll be able to write and you know how bad he wishes he was here."
Emma nodded and gave her luggage off. "Alright I'll send you a letter when I get there and I'll tell you where I got sorted."
"I love you so much baby."
"I love you momma." They each gave each other one more huge hug and Emma got on the train ready to start a new chapter of her life.

Hey guys welcome to chapter one! So I'm sure you're wondering why have Harry Potter fan fiction in somewhere that's clearly not London when that is where Harry Potter is
Well you see
I don't know crap about London other than the stereotypes and I didn't want to do that to my homeboy
So this takes place in Alabama a place that I'm very familiar with and I really hope y'all like it and give it a chance
If you do please give it a vote, comment, and share it would absolutely mean the world if y'all let me know what you think and gave me some feed back
Thanks y'all
