Prologue - Aerin
Her curly hair was the same colour as one of those parachute flowers. Dandelions, are they called? Dandelions, when they're dying and they've gone fluffy and people make wishes on them. Well, she certainly wasn't dying - she was too full of life - but man, she was the luckiest thing I ever came across. Lucky like those fluffy dandelion heads are meant to be.
Her eyes were the most dazzling shade of blue I'd ever seen. The lightest shade - they weren't like dark sapphires, like what I thought beautiful eyes should be like before I met her. No, they were sparkling, with dots of silver in them, dashes of light that never went out.
I hadn't even a clue how someone so tortured, so pressured, could stay so pure until the very end.
