the lost girl

Part 7

We were just riding for about 10 minutes when I saw an sherrif wagon with people in it, Then I saw a familair face sitting in there! It was Trewelany ! What the hell was he doing here ? 

So I said "Dutch look, isn't that Trewelany ?"

 Dutch looked over there and sighed " Yes of course that is Trewelany"

 we rode closer and Dutch said " Look what the cat drug in! Gentleman can we have a wordt about the foolish man with the top hat in the back ? I'm sure he hasn't done anything wrong!"

When he started talking to the sherffif's I looked at the prisoners and saw them picking the lock, I looked over to Arthur and nodded to the prisoners. When he noticed he just shrugged at me to let it go, on cue the lock got open and the prisoners started to run away and jumped on the train that was passing by.

"No! No! not the Anderson boys! I can't have another scandal!" screamed the sherrif, immediatly Dutch said " Arthur go after them! and bring Archibald with ya!"  Arthur rolled his eyes and helped Archibald on his horse, when they were out of sight the sherrif said:

" Let's go the sherrif's office we can wait there for them, but first let me hear your names please ?"  I'm Hoagy Macintosh, the old man is Steve Smith and the little girl is my daughter Luna Macintosh" I gave Dutch an little elbow to the stomach for saying i'm his daughter I hated to play along with this shit. He just gave me an death glare to shut up, I crossed my arms and said nothing and instead looked for help to Hosea, He just shakes his head to say " Don't fuck it up"

We rode to a town called Rhodes with the sherrif, The 3 man were talking about how bad criminals are and I said nothing, I didn't want to interact with the sherrif I almost always fuck something up, and if I fucked this up I could never join a robbery.

We arrived in a sandy old shitty town, It looked like shit and smelled like it too, but the sherrif found it an amazing town. We went to sit in the sherrifs office and Dutch tried to play the sherrif into talking about 2 families: the Grays and the Braithwaites, I already knew that Dutch was going to play this town like a fiddle.

I was almost falling asleep when I heard a noice outside and when I looked out the widow I saw Arthur with Archibald and a Ugly looking man hogtied on the back of his horse, Dutch saw that as well so he said to the sherrif:

" See I told you the boy was going to delliver! Boy is a hunter, Boy is a Killer!" 

The sherrif nodded and then said: "Well I really want to talk to you again mister Macintosh, but your daughter has to stay home, she doesn't belong with us talking about buisness"

I heard that and immediatly turned around and wanted to walk to the man and yell at him, but of course before I could do that Dutch stopped me and placed a hand on my mouth to silence me. "Of course she is going to be home with her mother, But can the silly man be released now ? we will keep him on the good path!" The sherrif freed Trewelany and waved us goodbye.

I wasn't paying attention because well, Trewelany talks in a way that I almost allways fall asleep, But I payed attention when he said something about Super BountyHunters, But it was cut off as soon as the topic appeard and the man laughed and waved him goodbye as well.

"So are we still going to fish ?" I said to the 3 man, but then I immediatly  regretted it when Dutch mockingly  said " Are you sure you still want to go ? You will miss your nap and then you become grumpy and no one wants that!"

I put my middle finger up in response to him, Dutch glanced at me but I ignored it. We rode away to the lake, we stole a boat that was sitting on the beach. 

I stood ready next to the boat to help push the boat into the water, but then Arthur said "What the hell are you doing ? Get into the damn boat girl! This aint a job for little girls." 

I teased him back by saying "Well you know what asshole ?This little girl can shoot better than you, so shut the Fuck up!"  I was done with them threating me like a 8 year old, I'm going to fight back now. But the 3 men looked up but they said nothing about it, I went to sit in the boat and looked over at the water.

    Arthur rowed the boat to the middle of the lake and they grabbed their fishing rods, I was just looking over the water still thinking when Hosea said : Luna, are you awake ? I was already explaining te beauty of fishing!" 

Mentally I slapped my head, I'm such a goddamn idiot, why did I say that I wanted to learn how to fish. I've always hated fishing, it's just so boring! You just look over the water and nothing happens for like a hour, but I still didn't want the 3 men to know that I lied to them, Arthur ofcourse already knew but I could't dissapoint Hosea and Dutch ..? Well if Dutch knew how I lie to him, I would be fucked, I will never be able to leave camp alone.

So I tried to act like I was really listening to Hosea explaining wich kind of fish to cath with cheese and with river bait,lake bait and swamp bait. I took forever but then I stood with a fishing rod in my hands in the boat, I was just staring away of course but then my rod was suddenly pulled very hard, and me not being prepared falls into the water.

When I rose from the water I heard hard laughter, Dutch held his hand out for me grab, then an idea got in my head I looked over to Arthur, Arthur saw what I was planning and shook his head I gave him a big smile. I swam closer to Dutch and grabbed his hand but instead of lifting myself up I pulled Dutch into the water with me!

I was dying of laughter seeing the man lie in the water, but when I openend my eyes from the laughing again,but Dutch was gone but before I could look where he was I was lifted up and trown into the water again. 

After a couple of minutes I swam to the boat as I was the only one still in the water, Arthur rowed us back to camp, I said to Hosea "Well today was a pretty good day, right ?" 

"Yeah, it was a pretty good day, you behaved yourself for once !" Hosea replied chuckeling, "Haha Hosea very funny" I replied sticking my tongue out. 

We arrived at camp and I went to change into some new clothes since I still was pretty soaked, When I was done I walked to Hosea and Arthur, they were talking at a table. I walked to them and asked "Where is the old man ?"

"You miss him already ? That's cute!" Arthur replied, I ignored him and looked at Hosea for a answer. " I honestly have no idea where he wandered off to, why ? you need to speak with him ? You can also speak to me you know ?"

I smiled at the old man, "It's nothing serious, I really want to bury the battle axe between me and Dutch, but therefore I need to speak to him"

Hosea went to say something when Molly screamed so loud everyone at camp could hear it " WHERE WERE YOU DUTCH VAN DER LINDE? YOU TELL ME GOD DAMN NOTHING AND LEAVE , YOU CAN'T DO THAT !" Then Dutch screamed back at ther something about how it's not her buisness or something, I ignored like the rest of camp, Since Blackwater this happens every now and then.

It was done writing in my journal when Arthur walked in, "Do you have a minute ? I really need to talk to you about something"

I put my journal down and said "Sure go on"

"well I dont know how to say this ...." Arthur his fingers were nervoussly moving around, "Don't .... don't you think Dutch has changed ? I mean like his behavior with robbing people and wanting more money ?" 

I looked at him and thought for a moment " I... I haven't looked at it that way, I ..... I don't know, But if  something is happening we need to get him trough this! Hosea, you and me just the 3 of us!"

Arthur nodded and we sat there in silence for a while until I asked "Have you talked to Hosea about this ?"

"Yes and he sees something is going on to, but like you said we 3 need to help him trough this" Arthur grumbled.

I hugged him goodbye and went to sleep.
