writing prompt 1: write about a place, real or fictional, how it looks, what happens there, and who is there
The kingdom of Brair. The location is unknown, but it is rumored to be somewhere in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle.
When you walk in from the dock, which is very rare, you won't see much. Just a forest. If you're tall enough, maybe you'll see the towers of the castle peeking out.
There's a faded path into the forest, and it's usually recommended that you bring some kind of weapon. Due to the many unnatural beings on the island (such as demigods, vampires, and werewolves) many hunters and terrifying monsters are drawn to the island and they prefer to hide in the forest and attack people on the path.
Just, don't fall off of the path.
When you emerge from the path, you'll see a row of buildings from the back. Small, painted, concrete, two floored buildings.
When you go between the buildings, you'll come across the time square. There's a giant fountain, probably 5 times higher than the tavern, in the middle. Still room to move around though, the town square is amazingly big.
Looking to your left, there's probably a house, the small medical clinic (only medical place you'll find), then Spade Tavern, one of the more popular establishments in Brair.
Let's not go into the clinic, the doctors may be annoyed. And the patients.
Going into the tavern, sometimes it'll be packed, sometimes it's empty. Luckily, it was empty besides for the barkeeper, Jackson Ranger.
He seemed off, more than he usually does. I wonder what's wrong.
Oh, yes, his… 'friend', Echo Alexander, is in the medical building. As usual. Poor Echo.
When you walk into the tavern, on your left will be the bar. Exactly 15 stools, the bar was not curved at all. Behind the bar, the barkeepers would be slightly taller, as the floor was raised slightly. Behind them, there was a counter then shelves above it containing multiple types of bottles.
On the bar, there were lines of lit candles, 17, one for each stool and then two for the ends.
On your right, there are 7 tables, each with 4 chairs and a small, lit candle on top.
Now, let's head to the left of the tavern. There was an inn, named Hermes Inn, after the Greek god of travelers. Walking in, you'll find a door leading to the staircase on the left, and a desk with Dominic, the innkeeper. He'll usually be reading a book or just staring into the fireplace, across from his desk. There were two small chairs by the fire with a small end table between them.
Going forward more, you'll see two tables similar to the ones in the tavern.
Up the stairs from earlier, there's 2 rooms. Going into one, on the left there's a bed. In the corner, closest to the door, is a hat and jacket rack.
Beside that, on the right wall, is a desk with 4 drawers. It has papers scattered across it and a small, black, clothes button. The papers seem to be drawings of many Greek gods and goddesses, and some of the land of the gods, Mount Olympus.
Beside the bed, there's a wooden chair, probably the one usually at the desk. Pulled to the bed to watch someone injured, maybe.
If you haven't already guessed, this room belongs to someone. Echo Alexander.
The last place we'll be going is Lake Lorelei. Named after the original Lorelei. There's a few other places in the small kingdom, but, they're not as important.
To get to the lake, you have to go through the gap between the inn and the weapon shop. Sometimes, you might see some people there.
In the winter, most of it is frozen over. A lot of things have happened at this lake. A lot of memories that some people will never know existed.
And, really, that's the kingdom of Brair. The small island in the Bermuda Triangle. Now, wait, apparently we're done. There's more. I've described what it looks like. Some people. But, I haven't described the main part of this place.
If you've noticed, it's a little… not modern. Seem like something from the medieval times. There's a reason for that. Do I know it? Not yet. But, there's modern people here. With technology. How?
Well, there's a phenomenon surrounding this island. Things will happen to people, and, suddenly, they'll wake up somewhere on Brair. I said arriving on the docks was rare, didn't I?
And, people can't leave. Actually, they can. If they're smart enough. Most normal humans and mortals can't leave though, and, eventually, they just decide to stay.
How do I know all this, you may ask? I've been here for years. Brair is a wonderful place, and I'm of those that came in through the docks. I help people that wake up here, confused. Tell them why they're here, and how to get out, if I can.
You also may be wondering my name. I'm Wright. Y'know, w-r-i-g-h-t, like the verb write cause I'm the narrat- yeah you probably don't care. I'll stop.
That was the kingdom of Brair. We hope you enjoyed the small story.
