"Why does this always happen to me? Why can't I have just one healthy relationship? Why can't I be happy?" I fall back onto Simon's bed.
"Give it time Laney, give yourself a break from the world. Delete social media, go on holiday, do something to keep your mind off of things. You're trying too hard to be happy that you're spiralling into depression. Take a break." I look at Simon, I know what he's saying is true but its not as easy as it looks. Being 'happy' isn't as easy as flicking a switch, not anymore at least.
"I can't Simon. I'm broke and god knows what I'd do without social media." I loved social media more than anything else. Family included.
"Remember what you told me the first day we met? You wanted to write a book. Do it. Let it be your distraction. I'll pay for your holiday." It was true, writing had always been my passion. I did a University course for Creative Writing, it was University where I met Simon, we shared a dorm before he dropped out but during his time there we shared a dorm and soon became best friends.
"I can't let you pay for it Simon, I'm already living rent-free here. Your fans think I'm using you already." After the third failed relationship, I had no house and was technically homeless before Simon let me live with him in the Sidemen house. It was supposed to be until I got a job and was able to afford an apartment.
"I'm paying for it Laney, no matter what. Let the fans believe what they want to, it isn't true and you know that. Have it as an early birthday present." He always has a reason to do good, the world definitely didn't deserve Simon Minter.
"My birthday isn't for another month."
"You won't be back for another month." I'm not letting him pay for a month holiday, I wouldn't even be able to stay off social media for that long - I'd get bored.
"If I'm alone I'm more likely to go on social media. You know what I'm like when it comes to a nice sunset." It's true, I was a stereotypical white girl but who gives a shit.
"Then I'm coming with you."
