"Freya!"
I turned around at the sound of my name. I searched the crowd of people around me to find the mystery person that had called me. But then my eyes reach a person that looked very familiar."Oh my god! Hi" I shouted back over the noise of the large crowd. It was Jadon. Jadon has been a really good friend of mine ever since the World Cup when he got his England cap.
He came and sat next to me in the empty seat on the right of mine. We chatted for a bit about what we'd been up to since the World Cup.
"Got a girlfriend yet Sanchy"
He rolled his eyes.
"That's a bit of a sticky one" he began, "we were dating for a month and then I asked her to be my girlfriend only to find out a week later she'd been seeing another guy at the same time"
"Oh I'm sorry Jads" I said giving him a hug.
Before we knew it, the match was under way and we were cheering on our England squad.
We were a goal up at half time but unfortunately Croatia had done a few fouls which had been allowed which definitely ticked off a lot of England supporters.
At half time, Jadon and I went down to the locker room to see and speak to the lads. Although we were in the lead they did not look happy.
"What's up Jess"
He shook his head vigorously, "You should hear there fans, bloody disgusting"
"What are they saying?" I asked intrigued why my best friend and his teammates are in such a foul mood.
"Shouting things like get off the pitch you bla** c*** and things like that"
I was speechless. I'd never come across a teams fans that can be so discriminating and racist. I would not let them get away with this.
I gave him a hug before I stood next to Gareth. He gave his speech before I continued,
"Lads, you need to keep your heads focused on the game. I know it's hard to when your hearing things like that but your better than them, don't retaliate whatever you do. You can get through this, ok? Your such an amazing team of lads and you don't deserve this now go get um! Show them how wrong they are!"
The team headed out of the dressing room. I decided that I was going to confront the Croatian manager after the match. And I was not going to be nice.
_____
The game had finished 2-1, England ending the game with a win. I hurried out of my seat as fast as I could so I could catch the Croatian manager to have a word.Luckily I could speak a little bit of Croatia and he understood English.
"I find the actions towards my players absolutely disgraceful!" I protested towards the manager, "The level of racism and discrimination is beyond okay!"
"You have no right to bring this up with me, your just a women"
My head was going to explode, "Excuse me!?"
I was shocked, beyond that in-fact when his hand came in contact with my face. I clutched the side of my face with my hands, tears forming in my eyes as my cheek became a dark shade of crimson.
My body was shaking and my breathing become heavier and harder to control. He walked away. I was a complete mess. Alone in the corridor, no-one around to help me.
Slowly I made my way towards the changing room, my arms hugging my body tightly.
Opening the door, I saw all heads turn towards me; some with concern, some with smiley faces.
"Frey! What's the matter?" Jesse shouted.
I burst out into tears, my eyes going red and puffy as the salty drops trickled down my face. I was engulfed in a huge hug by Jesse. He picked me up and brought me over to his station.
He kept me in a hug until I decided I was going to talk,
"I went to talk to him about the fans, an-and he-umm he sla-pp-ed me"
I look up at Jesse and his face was filled with pure anger. He was furious. He wanted to kill the man but he knew he couldn't. It hurt him that yet another man had hurt his best friend physically.
He called Trent over, telling him to comfort me while he went to sort out the situation. The Scouse sat next to me pulling me towards his sweaty body.
"It's ok beautiful, it's ok"
I felt so safe in his arms. So warm, like no one could ever hurt me. I look up into his eyes the rich brown shining back at mine. He was so handsome it was unbelievable.
I was still sobbing into his chest when we heard the commotion outside. It was Jesse. I knew he was going to kick off so I ran out of Trents hold and into the hallway.
Jesse was being restrained by Marcus and Jordan.
"What's going on!" I yelled.
They all turned and looked at me. The team, Gareth, the opposing team and the Croatian manager.
"He won't admit what he did to you!" Jesse yelled trying to get at him.
"We can't make him do anything Jess" I said walking over to him and tugging on his arm and towards the dressing room, "It isn't worth it..."
