(A/N: Okay, so, just in case you guys are confused, the name Karol is pronounced Carl, I tried to make it clear in the chapter, but, in case I didn't, that's just a head's up. 'Kay, enjoy now!)
Chapter Twelve
David Connelly"...and I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, I just want you to know who I am."
"So, you've been hanging around with that Colleen girl, huh?"
I paused the game I had been playing on my flat screen and turned to look at Drake, who had spoken, nodding my head with a slightly amused smirk.
"Well, obviously, I mean, you and Anthony saw her and I together, so, logically that would mean that we've been hanging out together," I replied, to which Drake rolled his eyes. "Hey, if you're going to ask a stupid question, expect an answer like that."
"Don't act so high and mighty, David. It's going to hurt falling off a pedestal that tall," Anthony sassed, laughing lightly. "Now, unpause the game so I can beat your ass."
"It's not fair if you're camping out like a little bitch the whole game-" I started to snap at Anthony, but, I was interrupted by Karol, who had been sitting on the end of the couch beside AJ, just observing, as he usually liked to do.
"Come on now, let's not get into a fight." He tired to calm the situation, though, his suggestions were simply ignored.
"Lay off it, Carol." I enunciated his name, purposely pronouncing it how it looked, to which Karol frowned, immediately getting ticked off.
"It's pronounced Carl, and you know that, jackass." He snapped, crossing his arms over his chest, his reaction causing me to laugh.
"Yeah, yeah, calm down, I know," I assured him, smirking in amusement. "You really need to learn to take a joke."
"Whatever."
"Sorry, what girl? Who are we talking about? Colleen who?" Jacob inquired, turning towards me with a questioning look.
"Colleen Terry." I replied, to which he smirked.
"Isn't that the girl that you liked in high school?"
"You shut your face," I demanded, causing the five of them to burst out laughing, which only annoyed me more. "If you guys don't shut up, I'll-"
I was cut off as my phone began to ring, buzzing where I had it set on the couch beside me, and, glancing over at it, I found that is was an unknown number.
Debating over whether or not I was actually going to answer it, thinking it was just a robot trying to sell me something, I ended up sighing, deciding to go with the small chance that it could actually be worth my time.
Picking it up off the couch, I swiped to the right and held it up to my ear.
"Hello?" I spoke into the phone, waiting a moment before I heard a woman's soft voice sound from the other end of the line.
"David, Colleen needs your help."
I tensed slightly, immediately becoming worried that something was wrong with Colleen, before I frowned, realizing this could just be a hoax.
"Who is this? I swear to God, if you're messing with me, I'll-"
"I'm not. You could say I'm Colleen's... guardian. You're just going to have to trust me," The voice explained, and, when I didn't respond, she continued. "The manager of her motel is in her hotel room right now and I'm afraid he's going to harm her."
