I stood next to the bed, even more nervous than before, opening the latch quietly and rocking him In my arms. The banging on the door finally stopped and I could hear footsteps move farther and farther away. I used this time wisely, prepping Shu and packing supplies for him and me. I took the bed sheets and used them to hold and tie him securely to me and hopped out the window.
My heart was pounding and my mind was racing but there was no time to panic. Knowing how well knowledgeable my parents were with the routs I often took, I improvised and took the longer rout, hopping around to make It Into more of a short cut than It already was. When I reached the train station I peered around for them and hopped In the train, dashing Inside before the doors closed.
I sighed In relief after a while and fell back Into a seat. I still trembled In horror. I couldn't believe what I had done.
I ran away from home. It was so easy, running away from that place that kept me broken all those years. And all It took was some outside help? Really? I looked down at my little baby brother giggling and smiled, kissing his forehead. I must have looked like a weirdo.
But I was free! I really didn't care this time. I snapped out of It when the phone run and picked It up.
"Hello?"
"....Hey, are you okay?" I smiled. It was my uncle, too afraid to say anything too suggestive out loud.
"I got out of there safe and sound! I have my baby brother here with me now!" I placed the phone on his ear and let him rattle In his own, unknown language before taking the phone back. He wined and reached for the phone.
"Shu...~SIGH~Thank goodness...So your completely fine now? You can come here with out a hitch?"
"Yeah. I'm on my way."
"Good. I'll be waiting for you at the stop. Sorry, I just can't afford to let you stand around on your own yet."
"That's okay.I like that Idea too."
"Call me If anything happens and don't fall asleep no matter what! "
"Yes, I know. I made sure Shu and I had plenty of rest before so he could wake me up If I ever did, so don't worry."
I think we both were so blighted at the fact that the I was finally going to be free from that hell, and that I could save Shu from ever knowing what It was like, that we really weren't thinking very rationally. Normally I would still be nervous, but knowing now, that at age ten, I was finally free to live a happy life I just couldn't help It.
I made a promise to myself that day. I would make the most of this opportunity no matter what.
I took out my deck, flipping through the cards with a glade smile. I laughed when Shu grabbed one from my hand. 'Soul reaper death syth....'
"Were free..Finally."
~No one's P.O.V.~
he smirked before leaving the train and turning of the phone.
