“We landed on this pile of ice and dust expecting to find something that would advance our scientific knowledge, but what we actually found was a pile of ice and dust.
Now dust can actually tell you a lot, and so can ice; when that ice contains organic molecules and when that dust has the same properties as sloughed mammalian skin cells.”
The professor turned towards the class.
“Who can tell me what this discovery meant?”
A girl in the back row raised her hand and said tentatively,
“The pyramids really were built by aliens?”
Everyone but the professor laughed.
