I don't know if I'm ready to go to school, especially a new school. I've never been social, I've always found talking to people hard.
Alex had her girlfriend drive her to school once we got round the corner. It started raining, I pulled my hoodie over my hair and used it to cover my face as the rain got heavier. A car drove past me drenching me completely and someone inside threw a green smoothie at me, the rain began washing it off, but not completely off. At least that's a something the rains helping with.
Everything was cold and wet, I couldn't feel anything, it see anything for that matter. My glasses were painted with rain and I depended on them to see even a couple feet away from my face.
I barely knew my way to school, so not knowing where I am and not knowing where I'm ment to be and not being able to see really made finding my way to school difficult.
I could smell the smoothie which plastered my hoodie. It wasn't the best not the worst let's say, I have had worse.
Surprisingly I made my way to school on time, I was 10 minutes early. I found my way to the office entrance, cleaned my glasses and told them who I was. I was handed my timetable and the first bell rang, the receptionist wished me good luck and I was off.
I made my way down the long corridor and noticed the sign above the door, "language and communication" surely this is English? I found my class and made my way inside behind a short Burnett who sat alone at the very front of the class, closest to the door.
I looked around in panic, faced turned to see me. I was drenched from the rain and had a smeared green stain on my hoodie from the smoothie earlier.
I absentmindedly played with the ring between my fingers while my teacher talked. "Your Kara right? Well I'm Mr White I'm going to be your English teacher, we are pretty far in the coarse so your going to have a lot of catch up work to do." He looked around the now full class. "You can sit... Next to... Lena." I looked at him puzzled.
The Burnett who I walked behind looked down as Mr White pointed at the empty seat next to her.
I made my was towards her I smiled and she replied with a weak smile. "Don't associate yourself with me... You'll end up with more" she pointed and the stain on my hoodie. "Or worse."
The lesson was actually enjoyable. Which is surprising since it's English. My next class which was a double period of chemistry and carried on the same as the last. I was seated next to the Burnett or Lena as it was the only spare chair, she was still closed off but the teacher left the class room.
"Fucking Luthor!" Some guy in the back yelled while lobbing a paper ball at the Burnett sitting next to me. Soon a wave of paper balls were thrown at her, some hitting me and others just falling to the ground. Soon people began shouting things about her. "Monster"
"Lunatic"
"Princess"
"Miss perfect Luthor"
They never ended."Leave her alone!" I shouted over everyone, and stood up from my chair. Everyone fell silent.
"The New kids got a death wish" someone laughed.
"Ohhh Lena lunatic has a friend" another added.
"Give her a break" I glared round the class before I sat back down and got back to my work.
"You didn't have to, seriously." She finally spoke, "you've just made yourself a target"
"Nothing that hasn't happened before, I've always found myself the target"
The teacher opened the door.
She never spoke again for the rest of the class.
I wandered down the halls trying to find the cafeteria, this school was like a maze. "Hey! You there!" Someone shouted down the hall, no one was around, besides me. "Yeah you new girl, you far up Luthor's ass?"
I took off down the hallway, down the stairs and made a left when I got to the bottom floor, I made my way into the bathrooms and into a cubical. I tried not to breath heavily, I sat with my knees to my chin on top of the toilet seat. 5 mins passed and I still never heard anything.
I let out a sigh of relief before unlocking the cubical door and going to the sink. As I washed my hands I thought I heard someone. Someone crying.
"Hello?" I almost whispered.
"Go away Megan." Someone whined in the cubical which was next to mine. "Please just leave me alone, today."
"I'm not Megan. I don't even know who she is, I'm new." I replied
"Oh" she unlocked the cubical, stepping out. It was the Burnett I sat next too in English and double chemistry. "Oh it's you" she seemed surprised.
"Yeah, I'm Kara"
"Thanks for standing up for me in chemistry, but please don't do it again, I'd hate to see what would happen to you if you did."
"What do you mean?"
"Just stay away from me, it'll work out better for you."
"No. I-"
"Kara, I'd hate for the new girl to waste herself trying to befriend a Luthor."
Lena turned her back to me, reaching for the door she turned around. "Thank you again, Kara".
She left the bathroom leaving me with a million questions. Why shouldn't I befriend her? Why was her being a Luthor such a big deal.
I know Clark had some issues with lex Luthor but something is different about Lena.
