Hm. Luncheon was quite.. dare I say...
Awkward.

Which is new, for my brother and I have much to talk about.

We don't get out much, and really only speak with whomever is in the palace- usually only consisting of servants, guards and family. Don't forget the occasional royal guests, as well.

Nico enjoys saying that I'm too hyperactively social. I allow him to, for it makes him smile. Laugh.

I like seeing him smile. It's rare. His neutral face shows displeasure. Something he got from father.

Frank comforts me whenever Nico's sad.
Because when he's sad, I'm sad.

When he's angry,
I'm sad.

Sad that he doesn't have the ability to be happy at will. He lets his emotions take hold when they're too negative. Something else he got from father.

Father likes to take his negativity out on my brother. Physically.

Father refuses to do the same to me because I am a girl. And girls can't fight back. Girls, females, are vulnerable.

Boys can, but Nico's not allowed to. No.
Nico goes to sword-fighting and self-defense training, but is never allowed to use it on family. Ever.

Father says that he should protect his future wife with his life. And that he was going to choose one of the three young women brought to the palace.

There's an issue, though. He does not want a woman. He trusts me with this because I can keep secrets. And I shall keep his secret until I pass.

Brother says that he will probably choose the smartest girl. The funniest. The friendliest.
The one who notices that he doesn't want her.
The one who can keep a secret.

Which I hope he finds. He is about to take the first girl out. Princess Annabeth of Avesta.
She makes me want to laugh.

Look at her.
She looks nice.
And taken.

What had I expected?
