Meet Waverley Lyons, a strong character that has gone through a lot but still manages to be just fine. Following her parent's divorce, Waverley made the decision to go to Holden, Florida, to stay with her aunt while her parents sort out things about who's taking custody.
Little did she know, that her journey to Florida, all the way from Alaska, would have her twined in a beautiful love story. It is also good to note that the author did a great job at making her personality match her situation because Waverley has never had a boyfriend and even normal friends for that matter.
Thinking Florida was going to be as boring as her life was, you all could expect the change in her heart when she finally had a twist in her life.
To be honest, writing about a seventeen year old with her problems is not always rosy but the author did and awesome job.Blake Hamilton is just like any other guy that is always angry with himself and in results, the world. Working as a rescue personnel in a pool side is all that he seemed to enjoy and hanging out with his only friends of course. For one reason, Blake hasn't been on his good side for long but that, my friends, was about to change for good.
Moving to Holden to stay with her cool aunt, who was an artist, was quite okay for Waverley but the hot weather in Holden wasn't too pleasurable. Meeting the other characters in the book was life changing for Waverley. However, something always made her feel uneasy: the way the cute boy always finds her annoying. What has she ever done to him to deserve that?
To say that Blake always found Waverley's warm attitude and curiosity annoying again first was an understatement. But as they say, hatred and love only have a tiny line between them.
Further into the book, we'll realize that Blake started having soft spots for Waverley, his ego was just too big to agree with that fact.Well, that was until Waverley admitted to her friends that she couldn't swim despite growing and living in Vermont, and area that has water around it.
Blake took the opportunity of having to teach Waverley how to swim as an opportunity to get to know the real her and so can be said about Waverley. As every relationship starts with bliss moments and whatnot, Blake's relationship with Waverley started just fine. That was until they both found out the truth about their pasts. Admit it, relationships with hurtful pasts go through a lot. Especially if the person refuses to forgive himself for whatever he did in the past. Waverley stood by him despite everything and that is called love. What I love most about this story is how Waverley was strong through out the relationship. Ut shows how girls can go through a lot and still be strong no matter what.
Of course, there are other twists and plots about this book but it would be best if you all find out yourselves. This book reveals how one can be strong and go through phases of life without crashing down and remaining crushed. It shows that despite what ever sad thing you've gone through or you are going through, you should still life your life to the fullest. I understand that the period of being a teenager is probably the hardest phase in growing but we should let it ruin the fact that it is also the best part of our life that we can ever experience. Why not do something wild and unexpected, maybe, just maybe, the weight of the pain we carry all along will not be there anymore.
Another thing is the fact that we need to have to learn to forgive ourselves. We make mistakes and things don't go out own way all the time. Why keep the grudge against ourselves so much. Agreed, things would have been better if had acted in a particular way. But the past is in the past and if someone else that's been hurt can move on, I see no reason why you shouldn't forgive yourself.
Relationships have their ups and downs. There could be secrets, untold words, undone actions and a lot more. The ability to be able to brush past all those and still love the person like nothing's ever happened is a confirmation that the relationship is going to yield something good. It's okay to be angry and its definitely okay to be sad and feel like being left alone at such times. But it doesn't mean that all the love and affection could be thrown away for the past. After all, that part of him didn't make you stop falling for the person. Why should it now? If you truly love the person you're in a relationship with, you would see through the pains and past if that person and try to make the person a better person.
These are the things I loved about the Story Float. And did I mention that the name actually does fit the book? And the cover us just so amazing. Y'all can do a great job by heading to @toastedbagel's page and reading this book. You'll never regret you did!
