Tap. Tap. Tap. Like drops in the sink almost, but too artificial to be that. I stirred, blinking my eyes to a halt as the dimly lit room came into view.
"Shit! How long have I been asleep?!"
I scrambled to my feet urgently to check the time. Ahh. 10:36. Saturday. Thank God, no work. Noises rang through the walls: thuds, clicks, tapping. There must be a new neighbor, I thought to myself. I opened the curtains on my bedroom window, gazing down to see a moving truck. As I expected. I saw figures dash in and out of the truck, unloading things that weirdly enough seemed minimalistic. Then I closed the blinds and went to prepare my coffee machine.
11:06. No more thuds, clicks, or taps to hear. They must've been done moving in by now. But why am I even keeping track.? It's not that it's any of my business. I thought this, as I sipped my coffee and ate my breakfast. A singular omelette. Made from the ingredients in my fridge that had lasted the whole week, up until now. I suppose I should make a run to my convenience store to pick some up for the house. Or maybe stop at a café and grab something... I nodded with satisfaction to the notion. After finishing up, I grabbed my plate and washed that in the sink along with my coffee mug. Brushing off my clothes, I flattened my bedhead, which until now-- I had no need to do.
My clothes are plain and unsightly, I thought. So I quickly threw on some black slacks and a vintage looking button-up that I owned, gazing into the mirror, I thought: Not bad. Not good, but not bad either. My mind was running wild, so I grabbed my wallet and left quickly so that I could escape the tension of staying in one place for too long.
In attempt to get back quick, I began rushing down the stairs. Then the side of my pants got caught on the railing, causing me to trip over my feet and almost fall face first into the concrete of the stairs below. I braced myself for impact, but instead I ran into something... squishy and warm? There was a small grunt. "Ow.."
I quickly realized what had just happened. I profusely apologized, realizing that it was a person who I had fallen above on the stairs. I attempted to stand up immediately but fell into them once more. My eyes fell into contact with his, my whole face lit up realizing who it was that I had bumped into. Or at least, who I thought it was. Up until now, I hadn't remembered his face, but now that I'm seeing it-- it's really him... His cold eyes turned into that of a warmth upon seeing me. "K-Kang Shihyun-hyung?" "Is that you?" He squinted, trying to put his finger on matching the name to the face. He knows my name!
"I'm so sorry... I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to run into you like that, I was just heading to the convenience store I work at so I could pick u--"
"So it is you hyung! I could recognize that politeness anywhere, you don't have to be so formal with me. Here, let me help you up. You do remember me right?" He said, interjecting, before I had the chance to utter a word. "Lee Kyunsoo, that's me. I was actually heading up to your place anyways to give a welcome, you do live above me right? That's so cool, I guess we're neighbors!"
Although I swore that we'd never ever exchanged words to one another... He helped me up, patting my head like you would a close friend or lover... I blushed, staggering back a bit, intimidated by his handsome face and height, he had to be at least 6 feet tall.. My heart pounded deep in my chest. "Y-yeah. Kyunsoo. Ah, yes. Lee Kyunsoo, we were classmates weren't we?" I managed to get out, knowing very well we were classmates, just in the urge to make conversation to bury my flush.
Kyunsoo looked around downwards, getting sidetracked to whatever he seemed to have dropped. "I'm sorry for running into you, really, I must've caused you some trouble." I uttered, lowering my head a bit to look where he was looking. He peered back up to meet my gaze. "No worries at all hyung.." He cracked a small smile at me, getting sidetracked once again in search of his missing item.
"I know that I'm older than you but really, you can just use my name, you don't have to use honorific, it's okay." I said in the midst of the zoned out Kyunsoo. He gazed back up, just occurring to him that I had said something. "Oh.. then you can just use 'Kyunsoo' for me." He replied. He kept looking up to meet my eyes and then back down again. Repeating this a couple times. "It seems I've dropped my wallet but I don't see it anywhere." He muttered almost as if off into the distance.
I looked down, moving to his left and bending down to peer just under the stair. Something shiny caught the corner of my eye. It was a keyring attached to a cat printed wallet. I looked back at Kyunsoo while reaching under it, I gripped it with my left hand. "Might this be it?" A small smile on my face as I swung it around my wrist a few times. His eyes lit up with satisfaction. "Yeah!"
"It's really unlike you I think. You don't look the type to have such a cutesy wallet." I interjected, unable to frown at the idea of him liking cute things -- Kyunsoo visibly flushed. He shook his head a bit, trying to rid his face of the blush. He started reaching for the wallet, but I quickly flicked my hand back. "Nuh-uh-uh! Not so fast, I get a present first!" I was joking, of course. "P-present?" He questioned me, puzzled. "That's right, I found your precious wallet for you, so I get a gift for saving your cards and won for you." I smiled cheekily.
Before I knew it, my lips were burning up with the warmth of his against them, and for only a couple seconds as though it had seemed like forever, happiness filled my heart. I fluttered open my eyes to see his face just mere inches from mine, he smirked a bit. "Satisfied? There's your present... Shihyun." I couldn't speak, the voice had trailed off along with the warm and soft kiss that he left me, not even realizing he had said my name normally. I could feel a weird sensation in my nether region. Sh-shit, what am I even doing..? This is bad! I tried to think of other things in the moment -- with that I unknowingly darted to the bottom of the staircase, red as a beet and blushing more than ever.
