The story begins with a young lad named Kidrygin who worked on his parent's farm, feeding the animals tending the garden, until one day the young farmer had to head out to sell their goods.

While he was away his parents stayed to tend the farm when the young farmer returned with the money he had earned,  his eyes opened wide with horror stopping him in his tracks.,

Bandits had raided their home it was destroyed the farm was in ruins, but why did they attack there was barely anything to take they had no money stashed anywhere the only thing they had was, then it hit him where were his parents they weren't outside.

He then quickly ran inside there the young farmer finds his parents lying lifeless on the floor, collapsing to the floor unable to comprehend what he was looking at, there lay the young farmer's mother and father.

grief-stricken he stands to grab the table cloth laying on the floor, after covering the body's he heads out back to grab a shovel that was kept in the shed behind the house then heading to an old oak tree that grows on the farm and started to dig.

When the young farmer was finished he heads back inside first picking up his mother taking her to the oak tree gently placing her in the grave, going back to pick up his father he turns around looking at the place he once called home his heart filled with rage.

After the young farmer said his goodbyes he sat down near the old oak tree staring up at the sky it felt like hours when the young farmer decide to stand up says one last goodbye to his mother and father then head down to his home to grab a few things.

Heading back inside the house he grabs what little food was left behind, needing to leave for there was nothing left for him here before the young farmer left he remembered something, his father had hidden a box the one thing worth taking it held a valuable item.

A family heirloom, in fact, it was given to his father that was passed down to him by his father and so on, when he found the spot where the box was hidden he had hoped that the box was still there.

Luckily the box was but was there anything still inside, the young lad not knowing what was in the box he slowly opened the box, looking inside there he finally sees what was inside, a dagger so beautiful it all most looked like a feather and weighed just about the same as one.

examining the dagger more he sees a symbol carved in the hilt but he did not know what it meant putting the dagger back in the box.

He puts the box in his bag thinking maybe he could ask his uncle if he knows what it means heading to the door he grabs the pouch of coin he had earned.

Saying one last goodbye to his home, the young farmer left heading down the path leading to a small town that was about two days away from his home.

when he got there the young farmer headed to his uncle who was the town's blacksmith.

There he sees his uncle working the forge, taking notice of the young lad he gives a short chuckle flowing with him saying, Hey, kid, you forget something.

not saying a word Kidrygin turns his head as his chest titans, noticing the pained look on his nephew's face he puts his hammer down saying, alright kid tell me what happened.

Kidrygin slumps over with his head down and begins to cry saying, My home was raided while I was away it was destroyed and my parents were killed almost everything was taken I have nothing left of them but this dagger.

Pulling the box out of his bag and taking the dagger out of the box to show his uncle, continuing with, I'm all alone and have nowhere to go, all the gold I have is what I earned selling our goods for this year.

His uncle Steps back at the words he just heard, sitting down on a chair nearby looking at the dagger tears from in his eyes barely able to speak he says with a crack in his voice, my sister is dead.

Kidrygin tries to say something to his uncle but was unable to all he said was I'm sor... when his voice gave out and he began to cry.

His uncle then looks back up at Kidrygin stands up and puts a hand on his shoulder and says, It's alright kid no need to cry ill help you out you can stay with me all you want you don't need to be alone.

clearing his throat saying, you can stay in the spare room I have and you don't need to worry about paying me for it either.

Kidrygin wipes the treas from his eye with what almost seemed to be a slight whimper he replies with, thank you so much, uncle.

His uncle clears his throat again takes a step back and walks to where he put his hammer down tosses it to Kidrygin smiles trying to make him feel better and says, besides I cloud use the help.

Glad to still have his uncle to be there for him, Kidrygin smiles back and laughs as a tear runs down his cheek trying to hold back from crying.

Kidrygin's life may have changed losing his parents and his home left with only what he had on him and what the bandits did not take, but it's not over for it has just begun he is no longer a simple farmer from here on out he will work for his uncle tending the shop and learning to work the forger.

But for how long he still needs to ask his uncle about the dagger to find out what the symbol means why has the dagger been in his family for so long and why did bandits attack his farm and leave the only valuable item behind, but that will just have to wait till tomorrow.

For he needs to rest up it had been tough for him losing them like that, his body was weak and he needing to take the time to mourn his parents.

Heading inside with his uncle, Kidrygin takes a look around the room seeing all kinds of weapons and shields on the wall but one stood out from all the others, the shield was hanging above a fireplace it looked like the shield had a dragon on it holding what looked like a gem of some kind.

As his uncle walked up to the pot hanging over the unlit fireplace that was just below the shield he grabs something to start a fire saying to Kidrygin, have a set over there kid and Ill fix use up something to eat, pointing at the table to the left of him.

Sitting down at the table Kidrygin looks back up at the shield and asked his uncle, did you make that shield, as his uncle was heading to a shelf with some ingredients stored on it.

grabbing some things off the shelf then looking over at Kidrygin he replays with, I'm guessing you mean the one above the fireplace, Kidrygin shakes his head quickly saying yes.

His uncle then turns back to the shelf to grab some more things off the shelf saying, then no I did not make that shield it was given to me from an old friend before he passed away as he walked back to the pot and put the ingredients in with some water and meat.

Kidrygin asked his uncle on how he had died but he did not get a reply from him all he did was stir what was in the pot that he was making for the both of them.
