Cassidy sat in her apartment as the Techie, the doctor for augmented people, repaired her.
"Seriously, you gotta stop abusing your body like this. At this rate, I'll be back to fixing you up again by tomorrow." He said as she finished and reconnected her eye back to her head.
"There. Back to new."
"Thank Mike, you're the best. Here's your pay." She said tapping her wrist as she selected the amount on the holographic screen which popped up and sending to Mile who checked his visual sights.
"Thanks for paying. Some asshkles try to get away with it for free. Safe to say, they don't make it through the week." He said loading up all his gear.
"Also, who are the weirdos?" Mike asked as Cassidy switched on the small block which showed her holographic TV.
"Some country hicks who moved here a couple of days ago. Why you asking?" Cassidy asked as Mile chuckled.
"The younger one almost killed herself using the washing machine. Oops, I'm not been PC am I." He said lifting his gear and heading for the door.
"Don't worry about them, this city will eat them up and spit them out by the end of the month. Week if they arent careful." Mike warned as Cassidy walked him to the door.
"Why don't we talk on the way?" She said switching on her thermal vision. She could spot Bailey on the stairs.
"What you wanna talk about?" Mike asked before spotting Bailey. " Oh, I see. Well it was nice seeing you Cas. Talk with you another day." Mike said winking at her.
Cassidy turned to go back when she collided with Bailey almost tripping as several posters landed on the floor.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." Bailey said as she picked up her papers.
Cassidy had already taken an image of them and she saw what Bailey was reading.
Job advertisements. From fifty years ago.
"Its okay. Umm, who gave you these?" She asked as they walked together down the stairs.
"Um some guy on the streets. He was kind enough to help. Though he did look weird, starring at me with this look." Bailey said as Cassidy quickly checked her X-ray vision and almost tripped at the sight of her under her clothes. Obviously, she didn't get any anti-ocular clothes most people wore to stop perverts from spying on them. Though Cassidy's ocular implants were more powerful, she was barely hindered at all.
"Kid, you gotta get the ACD. There are fucking perverts in this city whose use their augments to see through clothes." Cassidy said calmly before seeing the utter mortification.
"What?! I'm going to kill that guy!" Bailey shouted shaking her fist in outrage.
"He is probably gone. You'll probably never see him again." Cassidy said as ailey looked at her with utter despair.
"Come on, I'll get you some new clothes. Come with me." Cassidy said as BIley followed her without a single moment of hesitancy.
It truly shocked her how trusting this girl was. As they entered the streets, the city's noises and smells flooded Cassidy's senses.
She had lived here her whole life. It was her home and as part of one of the major gangs in Nightfall, it was her duty to keep pretentious assholes from touching what she cared for.
"But are those the Beastials?" Bailey asked motioning to a man with black fur covering his body as a snout peeked out from under his hat as he slept in an alley.
"Yeah, why? You didn't have them where you came from?" Cassidy asked as Bailey nodded.
"Okay let me give you a basic run through of what you should know in Nightfall. Firstly, there are what could be called three races which live in here, four if you don't count augmented as humans. There are humans who've been here the longest, Androids which came later after the Artificial war and all those protests over machine rights. Beastials are number three.
