I know you
Yet we've never met.
I see you as my friend
Yet I don't know your name...
~~~
I remember the day you caught my curiosity
As I strolled through the book isles.
I was looking for a specific book
And I saw you reading in an enclosed nook.
How interesting, I thought
It's rare to see a guy in the library, just sitting and reading.
That day I kept behind the book shelf
Peaking between the books
At the guy who was in his own world.
~~~
I remember the day you caught my curiosity
As I combed for my favorite book series.
I saw a girl who had the most odd collection of books
A notebook tucked under her arm
And a pencil in her hair.
I watched you pass by
Balancing at least a dozen books between your hands and chin.
I leaned forward from my reading nook
Ready to catch the books if they fell
But you kept them steady
And I hid back in my nook
Watching as you left.
~~~
I kept seeing you in the same nook
Bathed in sunlight as you read.
I wondered how lucky you must be
To have a personal retreat
All your own
In which you could read in peace.
I watched carefully
Observing the genre that you read.
You read fantasies, fictions, poems, and art
Tales of magic, romance, dragons, destiny, et cetera.
Could I possibly interrupt you from your reading to say hi?
Could I possibly disturb you while you were in your own world?
No.
I won't do it.
I kept watching from behind the bookshelf,
YOU ARE READING
