SootPaw awoke, eyes fluttering open, expecting to see his crush HazelPaw asleep next to him. Fog invaded his vision instantly as his eyes opened. Sneezing, he quickly muted himself, afraid of unknown beings ahead. Slowly, carefully, he padded forwards, feeling the marshy ground turn into ash. Trees near him were scarred with claw marks, bug infestations and ash. Confused, but not fearful, he proceeded. The ashy state turned into a less foggy, more moist dark forest, sunlight creeping in where only a few spots dripped dew.
Voices could be heard in the distance. He approached, hearing them more clearly. He couldn't help but eavesdrop.
"We attack here."
"How about here?" questioned a squeaky voice.
"No. ShallowClan would be more vulnerable to manipulation."
"I see." Something told SootPaw that this cat was important, and dangerous.
"Easily influenced. Got it?"
"Got it!"
"You're more useful than your clan put all together."
"Of course I am." A tom said confidently.

Trying to get a proper look, SootPaw leaped silently to a sturdy branch.
Below, a muscular tom, presumably the one with the bold and air-slicing voice, had a claw on a make-shift map of what SootPaw guessed was the territory of all clans.

"BirchPaw, what do you think?"
the small voice made a squeak. SootPaw looked-
One of the most beautiful she's sat next to the muscular cat. With silky white fur and brown and black spots, this calico was a sight for sore eyes.
"I.. um.. I think this is- good. B-but maybe, we can attack here, b-because-"
"I think I heard enough." The muscular tom grunted.
SootPaw watched, trying to take in every sentence he heard.
"It's time we tell the others. They'll be ready enough."
"Of course." The cats got up, all except one. That was BirchPaw.
SootPaw felt like approaching. It was the right thing to do in his small, growing mind.
"Hi there," SootPaw approached when he couldn't smell the other cats near anymore.
BirchPaw flinched. "U-Um- please don't hurt m-me-"
"Of course I won't!" SootPaw smiled. "You seem like you've been through enough."
Still not convinced, she frowned. Though she didn't recognize this tom, she believed he was a cat from her clan, ShallowClan. "Oh please don't tell RavenStar! He'll exile me!"
"I'm not even in ShallowClan!" He exclaimed. "I would never tell, though, even if it was."
BirchPaw seemed satisfied. "I can.. I can tell you aren't dead, so you should be going.." The pretty calico pointed to the sky, bright sunlight rays starting to peek over the dark large leaves.
SootPaw nodded. "I'll be on my way."
To his surprise, he just drifted away, back to a deep sleep.
BirchPaw sighed. That other apprentices' life seemed more calm than hers. Her father was a dark forest leader, for StarClans' sake!
She sighed. If she wanted a calm and peaceful life, she should try and get ways to have one.
"BirchPaw. Hurry." A tom growled in the distance.
"C-coming!" BirchPaw raced away.
