You know, if you see dead people, it really messes with your mind. I haven't seen them since being at the graveyard, and I hope I never do again. I locked myself in the house for a day, because I was too scared to go outside. I was afraid I would see the dead people again. Today I didn't have a choice though, because I had no food, and had not eaten in about a day and a half. Sleep was something I was low on too. So, today I had to go to town and get some groceries.
I slowly got out of bed, and tried to cover the dark bags under my eyes with makeup. Today I wanted to look a little decent but comfortable, so I put on a floral maxi dress, and a big floppy hat, with some sunglasses. Finally, I slipped on some flip flops, and was about to head out the door. While I'm unlocking my door from two days ago, I think about what I'm about to do. I fling the door open and start running and screaming, "Go away!!" Suddenly, I hit a hard chest, and fell on my back onto the hardwood on my porch.
I'm so flabbergasted I don't know what to do. I was shocked at who I bumped into. I kind of just stared at him. He had a flannel shirt on, with some ripped up jeans, and some boots. His hair was a dark brown, and his eyes were a dark hazel color. While I was just staring at him, he was saying something to me. "I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" A strong hand grabbed my arm, and helped me up, and I'm too shocked to say thank you. "Why did you come running into me, and yell go away?"
"Who are you, and what are you doing on my property?" The man just looked at me with a blank face. I had no idea who he was , and was not about to answer his questions about why I went all crazy. Plus, I wasn't going to tell him why anyway. "I asked you a question." I stated bluntly. If he didn't answer I was going to call the police.
Finally, he answered, "Well, I saw you in town a few days ago, and wanted to welcome you to town." Immediately, I regretted what I had said.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Nice to meet you..." I paused hoping he would tell me his name.
"It's Jordan, and your name is..?" he smiled, and I smiled back.
"Ruth. Well, thanks for the welcome, but I was fixin' to drive to town to get some groceries." I had no idea what to say to him. Like, who drives all the way out here, to welcome someone to town? How did he even know I lived here anyway? "How did you know I lived here?", giving him a skeptical look.
"Oh, I just asked Abbi. I hope you don't think I'm a stalker or anything." he gave me a charming smile, and I let him off the hook. "If your going to town, I could show you around too, if you'd like?" I was surprised by the gesture, and was happy, because maybe I would finally have someone to talk to in this town. Also, I noticed, that there wasn't a ring on his finger.
"That would be lovely. You're the first person to actually be kind to me." his eyes furrowed in confusion, but then he glanced at my house. When he looked back at me, he put that charming smile back on.

"And last, but not least, this is Deer Creek. It's probably one of the most visited sites in all of Kimberly, during the summer." Looking out the window of his truck, I saw the most beautiful scene. There were kids splashing in the little creek, and adults had their tailgates down, just hanging out. It just looked so friendly, and inviting. Taking pictures here, would definitely be something I would love to do sometime. Then, that got me thinking about what I saw the last time I took pictures. A voice startled me out of my thoughts. "Why do you look so glum all of a sudden?" Jordan looked at me with a concerned face. I definitely think after today we are friends. I couldn't tell him about what I saw though. In fact, I couldn't ever tell anyone about it.
