Samantha
"Mommy!" My five year old yelled for me from the ground floor of our house
"Alexandria James Root!" I screech taking the stairs three at a time "how many times do you have to be told stop yelling in my house"
"Daddy's here" Aj smiles brightly at me pointing out the window
Sure enough a black truck had pulled into my driveway with the driver side door ajar.
"Go get him" I smiled opening the door for her.
I watched my baby girl take off running full force down the front walk.
Her light curly brown hair bouncing off her back I watched as she launched herself into her father's arms.
"Daddy!" She squealed with delight
"Hey princess" he laughed tickling her face with his long beard "you ready to go see Grammy?"
"We're gonna go see Grammy?" Aj asked as her and her father walked up the drive hand in hand
"Yes ma'am we are" He stopped talking when he made it to the door and our eyes met "hey"
"Hi" I tried to smile. "Have a good tour?"
I turned away from the door leaving it open so if he wanted he could come inside.
I looked up and his tall frame was standing in the door way.
Looking at everything in the room but me.
"It was good" he responded with a tight voice "glad to be home"
"She really missed you" I said quietly handing him our daughter's bag.
"I really missed her" He sighed "thanks for letting me take her for a few"
My ex and the father to my daughter was none other than Jim Root from Slipknot.
He had been away the past four months on a South America tour with the band.
"Anytime" I smile wanting so bad to reach out and stroke his face.
But too much time had passed and so much had changed it probably wasn't my place.
Even if we never got a divorce.
I looked up and saw Jim staring at me intently.
It appeared like he wanted to say something but he just wasn't going to.
A pang of grief ripped threw my chest
Maybe something's changed but that didn't.
"Daddy I'm ready!" Aj called from the top of the stairs with her bag
"Well kiss mommy bye" Jim said softly giving me another look before turning to face Aj
"Bye mommy" She giggled when I reached down to pick her up
"I love you love bug" I smiled kissing her cheeks "be good"
I went to hand her to her father when his hand grazed my hip
"Kiss Daddy bye!" Aj giggled pulling my neck towards her father
"Bye" I half smiled kissing his cheek softly.
I enhaled deeply when my lips touched his face.
It was still soft, the fuz of his beard tickling me.
I could smell his cologne.
I just wanted to bury my face in his chest but as I had mentioned it probably wasn't my place.
Somethings changed like him and I being together
