One Year Later

Samantha

"Sam?" I heard Sid call me as I finished up loading the dish washer

"Sup?" I asked walking into the living room drying my hands on a towel.

"Uh you have a visitor" Sid mumbled.

"Oh. My. God." I half yelled when I spied who was standing at my door

"Sammmmie" The woman giggled as I pushed Sid away pulling her into my arms

"Jazz?" I asked "What on earth are you doing here?"

"To visit you obviously" Jasmine laughed "work brought me to Des Moines. A call to Monica brought me here obviously."

"Come in" I laughed pulling her inside "it's wonderful to see you"

"You too" Jasmine smiled looking around my living room "Been a long time. Is this the husband Monica told me about?"

"Who?" Sid asked suddenly making me jump "Me?"

"Well I mean I assumed" Jasmine coughed "I show up unannounced at my cousin's house that her sister said she shares with her husband I just assumed"

"Where are my manners" I said loudly looking at Sid's shocked expression "Jasmine this is my best friend and also my husband's best friend Sid Wilson, Sid this is my cousin from California Jasmine Rossi. Wait is it still Rossi or?"

"No unlike you ma'am I haven't ran off to Vegas to get married" Jasmine joked extending a hand out to Sid "Call me Jazz if you'd like all my friends do. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too" Sid grinned at her "speaking of husband I believe hers just showed up. But boyfriends haven't been mentioned"

"Shut up Sid" I smacked his hand away "he's right though the loud roar indicates that yes my husband is here. I just finished cooking lunch care to join us?"

"Yes good idea Sam" Sid smiled "Jazz can I accompany you to lunch??"

"Sure" Jazz giggled but walked past Sid following me "nice digs cousin. Husband must be doing good."

"Monica didn't tell you who he is?" I asked

"Nope" Jazz shook her head "is he someone important?"

"Figures" I mumbled as Sid started cackling

"Sam bought the house not her husband" Sid laughed "just thought you should know. He's a musician."

"Oh" Jazz nodded giving me a sad look for a moment "Well good for you Sammie. And he rides a bike. At least your father would have approved of that much."

I gave Sid a look as I heard the garage door opening into the laundry

He was roaring with laughter as he sat himself down to the table

"Jazz sit here next to me" he smiled indicating a spare seat with a plate

"Sam?" Jim's booming voice called

"In here" I called back as I placed some grilled chicken on the table "Jazz have a seat I'll be back"

I hurried into the laundry room hoping to explain to Jim who's here before he's surprised.

"Hey babe" Jim sighed when he finished taking off his boots.

"You're filthy!" I exclaimed taking in his disheveled appearance.

He was literally covered in black grease.

"Yeah fuck" Jim muttered

"What happened?" I exclaimed handing him a rag to clean off his hands
