My vision went blurry, and my heart started to slow down, I couldn't breathe. This was my fault. DAMN IT! I shouldn't have brought him with me. I should have lied to him and left him home. None of this would've happened if I wasn't honest with him. I take a look back at the nurse, and I see her with an apologetic look on her face. Anger begins to boil inside of me, and my thirst for revenge grows stronger. I'm going to find the Boss, and I'm going to shred him apart and make him feel the pain he caused me to feel every day of my life.
"Come on, nurse Lim, I think we should give him some time alone." The doctor said as he walked out of the room.
Minji stared at me for a few seconds before heading towards the door, but I grabbed onto the lower part of her scrubs, forcing her to stop.
I took a deep breath before I whispered into her ear, "I- I could use your help. Please meet me at the 24/7 cafe two buildings down from here. I'll explain everything to you." I released my grip on her shirt. She turned around to look at me with her big blue eyes and shook her head.
"I'll be there."
Three hours had passed while waiting at the cafe. I didn't even realize that I had fallen asleep until a small hand shook my shoulder. My eyes opened up slowly to see a blurry figure standing in front of me. I blinked my eyes a few more times until the picture in front of me became clear. Minji stood before me, still dressed in her purple scrubs and Dansko Clogs on her feet. Her face wore a look of exhaustion and rubbed the back of her neck. She must be sore from all the work she has to do.
"Sit here, and I'll give you a massage while we talk," I spoke to her.
"It's okay. It's rude to have your back facing someone while talking." She flashed a weak smile and then sat down next to me. "Alright, what's going on?"
I leaned back into the couch and ran my finger through my hair, exposing my forehead. Rethinking my decision even to tell Minji, if I tell her, then she's going to be dragged into this, and I don't want any more innocent people to get hurt.
"Maybe I shouldn't tell you," I say quietly.
"What!?" Her voice was angry, "I didn't come here after work just for you to tell me that you're not going to tell me what's going on. Why even waste my time?" She stood up from the couch, getting ready to leave. The barista standing behind the counter watched us closely like we were some k-drama. Our quarrel is probably the most exciting thing he sees at night.
A deep sigh escapes my lips, "Wait... " Minji pauses, "Please sit back down. I'll tell you everything like I said I would."
Her small frame turns around and sits back down next to me. She crosses her right leg over her left, placing her tiny hands onto her knee, staring at me with an intense look.
"I've been involved with something bad, horrible since I was fourteen. I got involved because of this- this monster that killed my brother." My voice broke at the memory of my brother.
"Oh, Taehyung, I'm so sorry." Her voice was quiet.
"My father was involved with something bad, and I knew that since the moment I was born. He left my mom, brother, and me because he didn't want what he was involved with to know about us. They found out anyway. Ever since then, I've wanted revenge, so I joined in on what my dad was doing in hopes of figuring out who killed my brother." I was so focused on telling Minji everything that I didn't even realize that one of her hands was resting on my thigh. She looked deep into my eyes with a sympathetic look. Disgusting. I hate when people look at me like that.
"I can't believe you had to go through all of that. If you don't mind me asking how old was your brother when he passed?" She spoke gently, trying not to hit a nerve in me.
"He was twelve, just a young, innocent boy."
We sat there in silence for a while, Minji rubbed soothing circles on my thigh, and then she spoke up.
"How do you plan on getting revenge?" Her voice was quiet.
"I plan on catching the monster and exposing what he does so he can be locked away forever." Lies. That whole sentence was a lie. I want to catch him, and I want to kill him myself.
"Don't worry Taehyung, I'll help you put a stop to him," she flashed a big smile at me, "We'll find him together."
