(A/N: This chapter is sort of rushed, so sorry in advance. I wanted to finish this story for you guys, but I also didn't want to y'know... make the boat sink. Enjoy this crappy chapter!)
(Cole's P.O.V.)
Zane and I were walking together along one of the many balconies of the ship when my fiancée spotted us.
"Cole, my love, what are you doing?"
I had previously told her I was planning her surprise. I did feel some remorse for lying to her, but it felt also right because of the way she treated others around her.
"Clarissa, I was um..." what shall I tell her? What seems believable?
"Your wonderful fiancé was asking my opinion on your 'surprise'," Zane answered for me.
"Oh, that is quite thoughtful of you, Cole," my fiancée nodded before quickly walking down the stairs.
"That appeared too easy, why did she not pester me further?" I inquired as we continued to walk.
"By chance, she might have acquired some sense?" I laughed at his remark.
"Clarissa might just have,"
We resumed our stroll together, talking about the ship's arrival in a bay filled with glaciers. I heard some passengers voicing their concerns about crashing, but employees reassured them saying a crash is unlikely to happen.
Or so we thought.
Once we arrived at the bow of the ship, we stood side by side overlooking the beautiful waters with creatures swimming to and forth.
"Zane... what happens to us once the boat arrives in New York? Do we part ways?" I questioned my secret lover.
"In all honesty, I am not sure. You have your duties and a whole future secured for you while I have an old mechanic shop with my adopted brother. I can not offer you the securities Clarissa can, but I can give you joy and happiness she cannot.
"With her, you will be forced to give her a child to continue your legacy, and with me, you do not. However, if you remain with me, you know we will endure many hardships because of our love for each other. I do not want you to-"
"Zane," I grabbed his hand and looked into his eyes. "Meeting you and being with you right now has already changed my choice. I lived my whole life following the rules; with you, I break those rules. I do not fear the misfortunes of us being together, I only fear of being apart from you."
I saw Zane glance to the side, likely to be checking for any onlookers, before leaning closer to me for a kiss. As our lips closed in on each other, we felt a sudden jerk from the boat, nearly causing us both to slip and fall.
"W-what was that?"
We looked over the edge and saw the boat had collided with a rather large glacier.
"We should inform our friends," I stated before leading him back towards the interior of the boat.
As we walked by some designers and officers, we overheard them talking about the seriousness of the crash. Surely, the glacier was small, how much harm could it have done to the hull?
"Jay!" Zane called out to his auburn friend.
Jay turned with a look of worry and fear on his face. He raced towards us, appearing out-of-breath for some unknown reason.
"I am sorry, Zane, I could not stop her," he apologized with a look of grief on his face.
"What is it? Stop who?"
"Clarissa, she stormed in and demanded to see your notebook! She took every drawing of you and Cole!" Jay exclaimed as the blood drained slowly from my lover and my faces.
"Dear Lord, we must find her!" I said before running down the hall in search of my future-ex-fiancée.
I raced to our room first, finding it ransacked and the sheets pulled out in most likely rage. Next, I headed for my father's room. Unfortunately, I found her, in tears, showing my father the drawings.
"Father! Clarissa! I can explain the meaning of this!" I cried out, bursting through the door.
My father looked at me solemnly, as if I had lost an arm in a war before saying, "Son, I understand clearly enough. This Zane fellow has disillusioned you with his insanity and tricked you into trusting you, indoctrinating you with his lies and madness."
He walked over to me, patting me on the shoulder lightly like I had a contagious disease of some sort. "Don't worry, we will cure you once we arrive back in Massachusetts. I will spend our money to find the best doctors and therapists to help you, and we will imprison this man so he may never hurt another soul."
"Father, you're the one that doesn't understand. You never understood-"
"Teenage disobedience, I knew the day will come when you will go against your mother's-"
"I loved mother! You're the one tarnishing her memory!"
"Cole, can you not see that this man had turned you into a rage-filled person? You were so soft-spoken and kind, but now you pick fights with your father?" Clarissa sobbed uncontrollably.
"I only raised my voice once while he has done it countless times!" I exclaimed.
My father's pitiful expression turned to one of hatred. "Son, do not dare claim you have developed feelings for this person! He's a peasant, and a man to be exact! You could have had any woman you ever wanted that was rich! And you choose a foolish, penniless artist? For shame, you will receive the medical treatments to deal with this new disease you carry!"
I finally did what I always desired to do. I punched my father in the face before running out of the room in anger and malice.
My father was once a loving man until my mother's death, now he will sleep with any person that is rich enough for him to receive money from! I am not disgracing my mother's memory, he is!
"Zane!" I called out to the blond as he talked to Jay nervously.
"The captain ordered an evacuation!" Jay said anxiously.
"What happened-"
"They know, once we get off the boat, I am running away from them. They are going to place me in a mental hospital!" I whispered furiously.
"Oh, dear,"
"How can we get on the escape boats?"
"All the women and children are being taken off first before the men are let on," Jay answered nervously. "It is every man for themselves though."
We continued whispering nervously before I heard a recognizable shrill shriek.
"There officer! The blond has tricked my fiancé!" Clarissa exclaimed.
