Age: 15

Appearance: Zeno is around 5'9, skinny looking, but has a strong body that's withstood many a blow. He has brown eyes and messy black hair that isn't short, but isn't long. 

Back when he was part of Team Rocket, he generally wore a black trench coat and trilby hat. He kept that trend through his journey in Alola, but abandoned it when he came to Kalos. Now he wears a black shirt, a black over-shirt, black pants, and black sleeveless gloves. Yes, he does have a thing for the color black. It might have to do with him having grown up within Team Rocket. 

Unova Update: 

Personality: Cautious, but generally can get a good feel on who people are by meeting them and if they can be trusted. Loyal to his friends and would die for them if he had to (I mean, he did already, so there's proof of it). He will protect those in need, even if it's a whole region in danger. He has accepted his role as being the Hero Born of Darkness and now wishes to be someone who others can place their hope in. However, he will always be plagued by his past deeds and will sometimes falter in his belief.

Motivations: His only reason for participating in Alola's Island Trials was because he wanted to try to live differently from his much darker past self. Over time, he grew to enjoy travelling with his friends, experiencing the Pokemon world as it is. 

His motivations for doing the Pokemon League in Kalos however has roots in his Frogadier, whom is shiny and because of that, will die in about a month. So Zeno is on this new journey to let Frogadier live a full life and battle, as well as being able to be with Alex and Robert, his two close friends.

Unova Update: Zeno decision to go to Unova with Robert and Alex was made so he could be with his friends. And seeing how his bond with his Pokemon has turned into something unique and powerful, decides he also wants to train more and take on even bigger challenges for their sakes.

Relationships: Hau, Lillie, and Gladion will remain close friends to Zeno, whom he all met in Alola, as well as Alex and Robert, who are still currently with Zeno in Kalos. Zeno, before the events of HBoD, was in love with Willow, who tragically died after just two months of the two meeting. Zeno and Alex as a couple was somewhat confirmed in Alola, yet isn't confirmed in Kalos as of yet. The fact that Zeno left for 6 months without contact between him and her may have had something to do with their relationship being in the unknown category. Oh, and Giovanni is his father. Can't forget that. However, Zeno sees his parental family in that of Jesse, James, and Meowth, who took care of him when he was younger and who he lives with in Kalos. But who he considers his true family is larger than that, which consists of his friends and his Pokemon.

History: Zeno is the son of Crime Lord and Boss of Team Rocket, Giovanni. He grew up being abused and eventually became his father's personal assassin at a young age, until he endured a tragic event where his Charizard was killed by a Poacher. He was saved by a wild Arcanine and her pup, Growlithe, whom became his partner from there on. Zeno spent a time away from Team Rocket in Saffron City with Willow, who both grew feelings for each other, until Willow died and Giovanni tried to bring Zeno back into the darkness. He fled soon after saving Jesse, James, and Meowth, ending up in Alola, trying to start his life anew as a Pokemon trainer alongside Growlithe. Through a series of events, Zeno gained new friends and Pokemon, and was revealed to be the Hero Born of Darkness in Alola's Prophecy. He died saving Alola from the Shadow, but was revived by the gods of Old, due to having regrets about wanting to try and change his father. After nearly winning Alola's First Pokemon League, losing to Hau in the finals, left the friends he made as well as his girlfriend??? and went back to Kanto, back to try and change Giovanni and develop a better relationship. 

However, Zeno ended up leaving after 6 months and headed to Kalos with his adopted family, Jesse, James, and Meowth. From there, he found a purpose in travelling through the region by wanting to give a Froakie, who would end up dying in two months, the life of a Pokemon. Meeting up with his two friends from Alola, Alex and Robert, they now struggle against multiple threats plaguing the region, including an entity known as Chaos. When this is resolved, Zeno and Alex both decide to accompany Robert back to his home region, Unova, where a new adventure unfolds.

Pokemon (HBoD): Arcanine (Buddy), Decidueye, Dusk Lycanroc, Gyarados, Kabutops, Mimikyu (Mimi), and Silvally (Mahina).

Pokemon (LDOC): Arcaneis (Buddy), Shiny Greninja, Lucario, Mawile, Corviknight, Bisharp

Pokemon (RoC): All Pokemon prior to RoC, Joltik

Alolan Rivals: In Alola, Zeno's main rival was Hau. Their rivalry was a friendly one, but Hau always felt like he was way behind Zeno in terms of strength and skill. Only when he was able to fully confess his doubts and worries to Zeno was he able to truly be set on the road to get stronger and surpass his rival in Alola's Pokemon League. Gladion was another one of Zeno's rivals, whose strong Pokemon Silvally was able to sweep Zeno's team. Zeno was only able to triumph over him in the League because both of their Synthetic Pokemon had a duel of who was the strongest in terms of pure strength and willpower of them and their trainers. Alex and Robert were also rivals to Zeno, but it wasn't nearly as strong as the other two.

Kalosian Rivals: Zeno and Alex's rivalry in Kalos is a passive one, both aiming to surpass the other, but it isn't prominent. Zeno's true rivals in Kalos are Ash and Clara. He and Ash have similar battling styles, which they put to the test whenever they battle, a strong rivalry between their Frogadiers as well. Both are confident in each other's abilities and Zeno suspects Ash may just be stronger than he is when they're able to go full out with a team of six Pokemon. However, Clara might just take center stage for being Zeno's main rival. Her aloof and superior personality is completely the opposite of Zeno's, her main goal to completely destroy Zeno and his team, all the while he just wants to try and change her. So Zeno will battle her and strive to overcome her whenever and wherever she challenges him, only if it means Zeno has a chance to convince her to see the light. 

Unovan Rivals: 

Trivia: Back when HBoD was in its pre-stages of writing (I had a Prologue and a chapter made that started out entirely different from how HBoD started which would've made the book entirely different. Maybe I'll upload it one day for LOLs), I had to have Zeno start out with a Pokemon. I don't exactly remember why I picked Growlithe, but I'm glad I did. He really grew on me and has become (probably) my number 1 favorite Pokemon. I hope you all like him and his partnership with Zeno. (Also, Buddy is Arcanine's unofficial nickname. I just wrote it once, then it kept happening every so often. It's still unofficial though).

 I mentioned that I had a different story planned out for him before I changed things to what HBoD has become, but here's a little on how it would've started out. You would have immediately known Zeno was Giovanni's son just from the Prologue. You also learn that Zeno was still an active member of Team Rocket. Of course, he isn't in HBoD or LDOC, but you can see the difference quite clearly. He also started out in Unova, not Alola. Sun and Moon hadn't even been announced during the pre-stages, that's how long I planned to write a Pokemon Fanfic.

All that trivia above was the same I put into my Covers book, so let's get some new info in here. Zeno was going to be younger when I first planned things out. Around 12 or 13 I was originally planning. But, as I started things out, I realized doing younger wouldn't really fit what I had in mind, so I changed his age to 14 in HBoD. He was also supposed to win against Hau in the final battle in the Pokemon League, but allow Hau to be the champion in his place since Zeno needed to leave Alola.

Zeno and his Greninja share a bond kin to that of Ash's and his Greninja's bond. The name they decided upon for themselves (aka: What Robert decided for them), was Kage-Shinobi. That is who they both are.
