How long is forever?

The clacking of footwear against the marble tiles didn't sway the woman's attention from the beautifully chaotic portrait in front of her. Splashes of silver light emitted from the chandelier, presenting her the ability to decipher the dark colors colliding in a murky manner. Every stroke, every burst of violet and vermillion clashed together as if it were a battle enticing the viewers interests. She applauded how a person could design such artful turmoil.

Her finger lightly tapped her knee despite the numerous times she told herself it was starting to cramp. Sturdy threads sealed her lips together but it wasn't like she had much to discuss at the given moment. The movements of her vision were quick yet, steady flashes in order to distract herself from the entity sitting beside her. It was ultimately a failed attempt when she allowed her vision to look at the man patiently waiting for her to acknowledge his existence.

"Why are you smiling?" A sense of nostalgia slipped past her quiet lips. Her lashes fluttered like curtains during a fresh morning.

The previous smile he sent her seemed so content, so fulfilling. He took the chance to prop his bandaged elbow on top of his crossed legs as his hand ruffled his wavy hair. The smile he now displayed grew wider, almost as if to spook her intentionally. She remembered imagining if he could disappear little by little, and all that would be left would be his smile never dispersing from the darkness.

"Does my smile still make you uncomfortable?" The man humorously attacked her with a question just as she'd done.

He watched her next movements with a look in his eyes that almost enveloped her, but not in a suffocating way. Her mouth gaped open for a bit until she felt a tugging sensation on the corners of her lips. Her once guarded eyes softened from the even and familiar tone of his voice. The way they looked at each other appeared like time had stopped as memories of the pure snow entrapped all of their surroundings, causing them to look at nothing else but each other. Just one second engulfed in each other's arms meant forever to them.

"No, not anymore. It's not empty like it used to be."

Even though I have claimed that I would not make any more chapters regarding Synchronous, I never said I wouldn't make another story ahaha. I've had small ideas regarding this new story for a couple of years, but I can finally have the motivation to write it out!

Now, if you've read any further regarding my author's note, thank you! This story will be a bit more complex than my previous story, but not to the point where it will be difficult to understand.

I also advise you to question which characters and events that are parallel to those in Alice in Wonderland as this will be important!

Cheers to a new year!
